Explore the Circular Economy School in Tokyo

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan is set to host a unique educational event titled 'Circular Economy School in Tokyo' from January 9 to January 12, 2026. This initiative aims to instill a deep understanding of the circular economy among elementary school students while celebrating the legacy of the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

The Circular Economy School focuses on broadening awareness and understanding of circular economic practices while encouraging actions that align with resource circulation. In collaboration with the popular 'Survival Science Manga' series, this interactive learning experience promises to be both informative and enjoyable.

Event Overview

This limited-time event will be held at the ITOCHU SDGs Studio, located at 2-3-1 Kita-Aoyama, Minato Ward, Tokyo. Participants can look forward to a variety of engaging activities, including lesson and exhibition contents. Children will discover the principles of circular economy through an original comic titled 'Survival of the Circular Economy' inspired by 'Survival Science Manga'. They will also participate in a fun card game, which is designed to enhance their understanding of recycling and sustainability.

As a takeaway, every participant will receive their own original comic and card game, fostering continued learning beyond the event.

Exhibition Highlights

The exhibition component will feature materials from the 'Circular Economy Research Institute' that was part of the Osaka-Kansai Expo. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with displays that represent key actions associated with circular consumption: 'buy', 'use', 'share', and 'recycle'. These interactive exhibits will help children grasp the concepts of sustainable living and responsible consumption.
