Kizuna Shokudo: A Community Kitchen for Children
Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, Kizuna Shokudo, organized by the social welfare organization Kizunakai in Kita-ku, Tokyo, opens its doors to provide a welcoming space for local children. This initiative aims to foster community ties while offering nutritious meals to those in need.
Exciting Events for April
In April, Kizuna Shokudo proudly hosted three successful children's dining events. Thanks to the generous support of Gyōza no Ōshō, delicious bento boxes were offered to the children. A heartfelt thank you to them for their kind contribution!
The highlight of the month was the introduction of a new dish, seafood curry. This delightful and hearty meal, filled with ocean treasures, quickly became a favorite among the kids, who enjoyed every bite. The popular Mochiko Chicken was also served during this occasion, offering a taste of Hawaii right in Tokyo. For those unfamiliar, Mochiko Chicken is a local Hawaiian dish made from chicken coated in mochiko (sweet rice flour) which gives it a crispy exterior and a juicy, chewy interior.
With requests from the kids to eat again, the next planned dish is Hayashi Rice, a comforting, hearty option that promises to bring smiles all around.
Looking Ahead: A Commitment to Children's Happiness
As we move forward into 2026, Kizuna Shokudo remains firmly committed to putting the smiles of children first. This initiative will continue to adapt and evolve while closely engaging with the community to ensure that children's hearts and stomachs are well-fed.

What is a Children's Dining Hall?
This initiative aims to create a safe, affordable dining environment for kids. Typically run voluntarily in various locations, these dining halls provide an opportunity for children and adults alike to come together, fostering community spirit while addressing issues like social isolation and poverty.
Community Support and Partnerships
Kizuna Shokudo is actively seeking support from individuals, businesses, and organizations. Whether through the donation of ingredients or financial contributions, your help will assist us in delivering warmth and security to the children in our area.
We extend our appreciation to our partner companies, like the National Nursery Research Institute and Lopi Co., Ltd., for their generous support in various forms.
Future Plans
Kizuna Shokudo will consistently hold events and thrive on cooperation with the community to encourage placement for children and promote local welfare initiatives. Stay tuned for updates on activities and event details!
