TEMSA Expands European Footprint with Delivery of 15 Electric Buses to Lithuania

TEMSA Strengthens European Presence with Electric Bus Delivery to Lithuania

TEMSA, a leading player in the electric bus manufacturing sector, has successfully delivered 15 units of its MD9 electriCITY model to Lithuania, a country recognized for its rapid shift towards electrified public transport. This significant delivery not only underscores TEMSA's commitment to sustainability but also enhances its footprint in the European market.

At a handover ceremony held in Kaunas, key representatives from the European Commission, Lithuanian government officials, and local authorities were in attendance, marking this pivotal moment for both TEMSA and the burgeoning electric vehicle market within the region.

The newly delivered electric buses will operate under UAB Kautra, one of Lithuania's largest public transport operators and a long-term partner of TEMSA for over 20 years. This partnership is part of Lithuania's ambitious strategy to advance its transition towards emission-free public transport systems.

According to recent reports from the European Commission, electric vehicles accounted for approximately 52% of all newly registered buses in Lithuania in 2025. This statistic highlights the country's robust commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.

Evren Güzel's Vision for Mobility

Evren Güzel, CEO of TEMSA, reflected on the company's vision, saying, "TEMSA aims to be the 'Preferred Mobility Brand' that aligns with real-world needs. With nearly 60 years of experience serving customers in over 70 countries, we understand that each market has unique requirements. Our approach is to listen closely to our customers and transform insights into actionable and valuable solutions."

Güzel continued, emphasizing TEMSA's long-standing investment in electrification technology. Currently, the company boasts a lineup of 11 zero-emission vehicles in its portfolio and has been developing its battery systems as well as charging and energy solutions to better serve its clientele.

Strong Growth Across Europe

TEMSA is actively expanding its presence across Europe by entering six new markets during the past year, including Czech Republic, Finland, Croatia, Malta, Norway, and Poland. Moreover, the recent delivery of the 15 MD9 electriCITY buses reinforces TEMSA's commitment to existing markets and paves the way for future growth.

Linas Skardžiukas, CEO of Kautra, expressed satisfaction with TEMSA's contributions to this strategic project. "It's not just about procuring vehicles; it's also about developing the needed infrastructure and charging solutions. A single electric bus can save roughly 650 tons of CO₂ emissions over a decade, equivalent to emissions from about 360 automobiles in the same period,” he stated.

TEMSA's proactive approach to urban mobility is evident in their dedication to continuously improving their offerings. The MD9 electriCITY, designed specifically for urban transport, features a length of 9.5 meters and a 250 kW electric motor. This model has already seen success in various European countries including Sweden, France, Romania, and Latvia, and represents TEMSA's first exported electric vehicle.

Overall, TEMSA's expansion in Lithuania marks a significant milestone in its journey to promote sustainable public transport solutions across Europe. With a strong clientele and insightful understanding of specific market needs, TEMSA continues to advance in the electric mobility sector, shaping the future of public transport for the better.
