Workshop Announcement: Create Machines Using Programming!
Mark your calendars for
December 27, 2025, as Tokyo is hosting an exciting workshop aimed at elementary students in grades 1 to 6. This initiative, part of the
Tokyo Kids Creative Lab (affectionately known as
Kurilab), is focused on nurturing creativity through digital experiences.
The fifth session of the Kurilab Network Collaboration Project will utilize the innovative
embot programming education service. Participants will learn how to build machines that can launch balls far distances, all while connecting with peers from various locations online. This is the first attempt at this collaborative format, making the experience even more engaging.
Workshop Details
The workshop will take place from
11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interested participants should arrive by
10:45 AM for registration. There is no participation fee, making this an accessible opportunity for young learners interested in technology.
Venue Options:
Participants can choose from several locations:
- - Tokyo Innovation Base, Chiyoda Ward, Marunouchi 3-8-3
- - Docomo Shop Sangenjaya, Setagaya Ward, Sangenjaya 2-15-8
- - Docomo Shop Sakuranomaki, Setagaya Ward, Sakuranomaki 1-12-10
Please note that this workshop does not provide childcare services. However, the Tokyo Innovation Base is equipped with nursing rooms and changing tables.
Learning Objectives
In this workshop, students will first learn programming skills using
embot to design and construct their own cardboard launching machines. They will utilize electronic components such as servo motors and various other materials before programming their machines to successfully launch balls. The session will encourage creative problem-solving as participants iterate on their designs and share their outcomes online.
By fostering both logical thinking through programming and creative construction skills, participants will enhance their abilities to think critically and solve problems effectively. This practice of turning ideas into tangible creations and refining them through trial and error will develop their overall creativity and analytical skills.
Target Audience and Participation
This workshop is exclusively for elementary students residing or studying in Tokyo. A total of
25 participants will be selected for the workshop:
15 from the Tokyo Innovation Base and
5 from each of the Docomo Shops. There’s no need to worry if this is your first time—staff will offer support throughout the experience.
Application Process
To register, please visit the Kurilab website. If there are more applicants than available slots, a lottery will determine participants. The deadline for applications is
December 12, 2025, by
