As the end of 2025 approaches, American drivers are gearing up for significant tire purchases. A recent survey conducted by Hankook Tire has revealed that 54% of surveyed drivers are planning to buy new tires in the upcoming months. This finding underscores a broader trend in consumer behavior as individuals seek to ensure safety and prepare for changing road conditions.

Drivers Leading the Change



Among the surveyed drivers, a noticeable difference in purchasing intentions is evident between genders. Approximately 64% of male respondents indicated a readiness to purchase new tires, in stark contrast to 38% of female respondents, who expressed that they would replace their tires only if absolutely necessary. The motivations behind this purchasing intention may be driven by a desire for safety and security as well as an interest in maximizing value during these economically challenging times.

Cost-Savvy Drivers



As tire shopping activity is projected to surge, American drivers are looking for ways to save money. Tire rebate programs are gaining traction, as 35% of drivers reported having previously purchased tires during a rebate promotion, with over 60% indicating a willingness to consider such programs in future tire purchases. Notably, the survey highlighted that younger drivers, particularly from Gen Z and Millennial demographics, are more likely to take advantage of deals, with 12% reporting they would replace tires during a sale, compared to only 7% of Gen X and Baby Boomers.

Preparing for All Conditions



Seasonal and regional factors also play a crucial role in drivers' purchasing decisions. Approximately 63% of respondents stated plans to purchase all-season tires, while 25% are leaning towards all-weather tire options like the Weatherflex GT, designed to endure tough climates without needing seasonal swaps. This trend is especially evident among drivers in the Midwest, where 69% prefer all-season tires, whereas Southern drivers display a higher preference for all-weather options at 28%. Such disparities reflect the diverse driving experiences across the country.

The Hankook Gauge Index, which analyzes Americans' attitudes toward driving, polled 1,100 randomly selected individuals aged 18 and above from August 14 to August 19, capturing a snapshot of current automotive consumer patterns.
