Experience the Flavors of Indonesia: Culinary Influencers in Amsterdam Discover Unique Spices and Culture

A Culinary Journey through Indonesia in Amsterdam

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism recently showcased the flavors of Indonesia at the spectacular 'A Taste of Indonesia' event held at the renowned Ron Gastrobar in Amsterdam. This delightful culinary gathering invited prominent Dutch influencers to dive deep into the rich spices and authentic dishes that Indonesia offers.

The event included an engaging cooking class where participants had the opportunity to prepare Sate Ayam, a traditional grilled chicken skewer served with a creamy peanut sauce. The hands-on approach allowed attendees to sharpen their culinary skills while exploring the rich flavors of Indonesian cuisine. After the event, guests enjoyed a sumptuous lunch featuring ingredients imported straight from Indonesia, including:
  • - Gado-Gado: a delightful mix of steamed vegetables, tofu, and egg, all drizzled with a tangy peanut sauce.
  • - Soto Ayam: a fragrant chicken broth enriched with chicken, rice vermicelli, bean sprouts, and egg.
  • - Nasi Goreng: the beloved aromatic Indonesian fried rice cooked with sweet soy sauce and accompanied by crispy prawn crackers.
  • - Rendang: a slow-cooked beef dish prepared in the South Sumatran style, bursting with rich flavors.

Among the attendees were well-known culinary influencers from the Netherlands, such as Amijé Roos van der Laan, Nana Asare, Sara Verwoerd, Jonnie Cake, Soraya Riem, and Amber Dresen. Titus Haridjati, the Marketing Communication Director, emphasized the ministry's goal of raising awareness among foreign tourists, inspiring them to explore the culinary wonders of Indonesia.

"Culinary experiences can be a major attraction for tourists looking to visit Indonesia. It’s crucial for us to promote our cuisine through various channels such as influencer gatherings and digital media campaigns. We hope that events held in multiple countries will boost the social media engagement for Wonderful Indonesia by offering exciting online competitions with attractive prizes," said Haridjati.
