Geely's UK Launch of the EX5 Marks Its Strategic EV Expansion in Europe

Geely Debuts EX5 in the UK

On October 23, 2025, Geely Auto proudly introduced the Geely EX5, an all-electric SUV in the United Kingdom. This event signifies a major step in Geely's European strategy, as the company aspires to lead in the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) sector across the continent.

The Geely EX5 is not just another entry in the electric vehicle market; it represents a revolutionary shift in sustainable mobility. Geely Auto is setting its sights high, with the ambitious goal of selling 100,000 vehicles annually by 2030. This target will be supported by the establishment of a nationwide network comprising 100 sales and service outlets by 2026, combined with a comprehensive parts distribution and maintenance system. This infrastructure is crafted to ensure that each vehicle owner receives exceptional service, further enhancing the customer experience.

Jerry Gan, the CEO of Geely Auto Group, expressed his enthusiasm for entering the UK market, stating, “This marks a significant milestone in our journey and underscores our dedication to delivering sustainable and innovative products. We are excited to foster enduring relationships of trust with our customers as we evolve in the European landscape.”

Before its UK launch, Geely Auto had already shifted gears across 12 European nations, including Poland, Greece, and Croatia. With a strong presence supported by world-class R&D centers in Europe and Asia, Geely is poised to expand further into essential markets like Italy, Germany, France, and Spain. Over the next five years, the company plans to roll out 15 new vehicles decorated with specifications tailored for European consumers, aiming to cement its status as a mainstream automotive brand on the continent backed by over 1,000 sales outlets.

The debut of the Geely EX5 comes at a time when the model is enjoying substantial success worldwide. It has been made available in 33 countries, with notable acceptance in diverse markets. Notably, since its launch in Australia earlier this year, the EX5 has displayed phenomenal growth. Furthermore, in Brazil, the EX5 has dominated its market segment, consistently holding the top sales position for two consecutive months post-launch.

Geely Holding Group, the parent company of Geely Auto, has a rich history in the UK dating back nearly 20 years, marking its initial footprint in 2006 when it invested in and partnered with the London Taxi Company. This partnership evolved into LEVC, still producing the acclaimed zero-emission taxi vehicles. Geely's strategic investments in prestigious British brands like Lotus and Aston Martin, along with its focus on electrification and luxury mobility, have further solidified its presence in the UK automotive landscape.

The launch of the EX5 is more than just an event; it’s part of a larger strategy to embrace the future of transportation. Geely Auto is committed to innovating and transforming the EV market, ready to tackle challenges while fostering sustainability. The road ahead looks promising, and with the EX5 leading the charge, Geely is well-equipped to thrive in Europe’s electric mobility revolution.

As Geely Auto embarks on this exciting venture, stakeholders eagerly anticipate the impact of the EX5 on the UK market and the greater European automotive industry. With its bold ambitions and a comprehensive service strategy, Geely is poised to redefine mobility in Europe, creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
