Enhance Your Parenting Skills with Online Course
The NPO Le Leche League Japan (LLL Japan) is excited to announce an online Communication Skills Course (CST) scheduled for September 14, 2025. This educational opportunity aims to empower parents, caregivers, and anyone interested in supporting breastfeeding and parenting through effective communication techniques.
Course Overview
The CST program is designed to provide participants with key communication skills necessary for supporting breastfeeding and parenting. Throughout the course, attendees will delve into essential techniques, including active listening, empathy, open-ended questioning, and the ability to provide information without imposing it on others. These skills will be developed through experiential learning and role-playing activities in a small group setting, ensuring personalized attention and interaction.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will learn to:
- - Practice listening and validating emotions, which contributes to a positive support experience.
- - Understand the significance of empathy and acceptance in communication—key components in facilitating discussions about breastfeeding and parenting.
- - Engage in role-playing exercises to reinforce learning, recognize the importance of practice, and develop confidence in applying these skills in real-life situations.
According to previous participants, the course offers invaluable insights and shifts in perspective:
- - "I discovered how comforting it is to have someone truly hear my feelings for the first time."
- - "Learning step-by-step through group work and lectures was incredibly beneficial; it helped solidify my understanding of the concepts."
- - "Recognizing the difference between knowing that I need to be empathetic and being able to actually apply that in conversation was a game changer."
Participants have urged that similar practical programs should be essential subjects for interpersonal aid professions due to the vast importance of the skills taught. It is noted that the facilitation itself includes empathetic responses and emotional feedback that significantly enrich the learning experience.
