Revolutionary N-NOSE® Cancer Test Launches New CM in Hokkaido and Aomori

N-NOSE® Cancer Test: A Step Towards Accessible Diagnostics

The innovative N-NOSE® cancer screening test by HIROTSU Bio Science is set to revolutionize cancer detection in Japan. Starting January 14, 2026, residents of Hokkaido and Aomori will see a new television commercial that highlights the exceptional capabilities of the nematode in identifying cancer-related odors in urine samples.

This groundbreaking test uses a unique transport technology that allows samples to be sent from any location in Japan, enabling equal access to cancer risk screenings regardless of geographical barriers. Following its launch, the N-NOSE® service has already seen a significant increase in participation, with testing numbers in Hokkaido rising by 16.5% compared to the previous year. This is an encouraging sign, as regions like Aomori have higher-than-average cancer mortality rates, making accessible screening solutions crucial in these areas.

Cancer screening is a pressing concern in Japan, especially with recent statistics from the National Cancer Center showing that Aomori has been grappling with elevated age-adjusted mortality rates for various cancers. The Fourth Basic Plan for Promoting Cancer Control emphasizes rectifying regional disparities in cancer screening opportunities, underscoring the necessity of promoting early detection through routine checks like the N-NOSE® test.

The new commercial creatively depicts the nematode’s instinctual behavior, navigating towards cancer-specific smells, through engaging animations. By showcasing this natural phenomenon, the campaign effectively conveys HIROTSU's mission: to leverage natural processes through scientific innovation to benefit society’s health.

CEO Takasuke Hirotsu expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "N-NOSE® represents a significant step toward accessible cancer screenings no matter where individuals reside. We aim to reach those who have hesitated to get checked due to the hassle of traditional processes. By simplifying these procedures, we hope to reduce the number of individuals neglecting regular screenings in their busy lives." This innovative approach not only enhances the efficiency of screening but also aims to promote a culture of proactive health management among the public.
