Doronko Group to Launch Five New Inclusive Kindergartens in 2026 Across Japan

Doronko Group's New Inclusive Kindergartens Set to Open in 2026

The Doronko Group, based in Shibuya, Tokyo, has announced its plan to open five new inclusive kindergartens in the spring of 2026. This initiative aims to integrate nurseries with child developmental support services in Osaka, Tochigi, Tokyo, and Fukuoka prefectures.

Leading Inclusive Education in Osaka

The new locations will offer inclusive childcare that supports children regardless of their abilities. Among the new kindergartens, two will open in Osaka for the first time under the Doronko brand:
  • - Domiouji Doronko Nursery x Development Support Tsumugi located in the historic area of the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • - Higashisumiyoshi Doronko Nursery x Development Support Tsumugi, situated near the largest park in Higashisumiyoshi Ward, will emphasize nurturing all children's potential through inclusive practices.

Tochigi Welcomes Inclusive Kindergartens

In Tochigi Prefecture, Doronko Group will open:
  • - Sakura Doronko Nursery x Development Support Tsumugi in Sakura City, an area known for its natural beauty and harmony with nature. This marks Doronko Group’s debut in the Kanto region, and there is optimism about implementing a naturalistic approach to childcare, resonating with the local environment.

New Developments in Tokyo and Fukuoka

Tokyo and Fukuoka will also receive new inclusive institutions. In Tokyo's Itabashi Ward, the Merry Poppins Ukima Funado Room x Development Support Tsumugi will be part of a newly constructed condo by Hankyu Hanshin Properties. Following the successful launch of Merry Poppins Oyama Room in 2025, this nursery aims to contribute to community-building while providing inclusive education.

In Fukuoka Prefecture, the Ogori Doronko Nursery x Development Support Tsumugi will mark the fourth facility in the area. Ogori City is recognized for its convenient access to both Fukuoka and Kurume cities, which also supports a competitive initiative for inclusive education. Together with city officials, Doronko Group is committed to crafting a foundation for a society where all children can thrive together.

The Concept of ‘Complete Integration’ in Inclusive Education

Doronko Group’s definition of “complete integration” goes beyond simply having facilities located close to one another. They argue that the mere physical proximity—having separate entrances, staff offices, or limited interactions—is inadequate. Instead, all children will share facilities, such as playgrounds and learning spaces, promoting everyday interactions regardless of their challenges or abilities. It’s imperative for educators from both the nursery and developmental support sectors to engage with all children, ensuring a truly integrated experience.

The focus is on nurturing all children’s “life skills.” Doronko Group believes that children with disabilities must have numerous opportunities for conflict and cooperation, which in turn aids emotional regulation and collaborative skills. To facilitate this, their inclusive programs give children varied experiences that encourage both success and learning from mistakes, fostering resilience.
