JTB Launches 'Easy Order School Trip' Service
In a bid to streamline the complexities of planning school trips, JTB Corporation has unveiled its latest offering, the 'Easy Order School Trip' service. Commencing June 10th, this initiative specifically targets small public middle schools, providing solutions to common issues faced in the planning and execution of school excursions. Not only does it aim to relieve the burdens on school staff, but it also supports the realization of sustainable school trips.
The Context Behind the Service
School trips have always been a critical aspect of education, providing students with experiential learning opportunities that enhance decision-making and problem-solving skills. However, the demands placed on teachers, particularly in small schools, are substantial. Many educators struggle to allocate sufficient time to plan these trips due to various operational burdens. Consequently, the difficulties surrounding school trip coordination are becoming increasingly prevalent.
Moreover, the challenges in the tourism sector, such as overcrowding at tourist destinations and new regulations from the 'Work Style Reform Act' implemented in April 2024, have exacerbated the situation. These changes limit the working hours for bus drivers, leading to what is referred to as the '2024 Problem', making it harder to secure transportation and accommodation for school trips. As a result, there is a pressing need for tourism operators to diversify their offerings and adapt their services to these new constraints.
In light of these circumstances, JTB's service aims to alleviate the burden on schools while simultaneously addressing the challenges faced by the tourism industry, paving the way for sustainable school trips.
Striving for Sustainability in School Trips
This innovative service will commence with offering school trips to the Kansai region, particularly in cities like Kyoto and Nara, targeting public middle schools with student numbers ranging between 30 and 50 per grade. To enhance efficiency, all preparatory meetings will be conducted online, which contrasts with the traditional style of face-to-face planning.
While maintaining a bespoke approach, JTB will provide a model plan, allowing for minimal adjustments. This fresh methodology is designed to facilitate smoother coordination, significantly reducing the workload for school staff.
Expected Benefits
1. Ensuring opportunities for school trips for small institutions.
2. Lightening the workload for educators by streamlining planning processes.
3. Contributing to local communities by scheduling trips during off-peak seasons, thus stabilizing occupancy rates for accommodations and charter buses, and expanding sales opportunities for local businesses.
Sample Itineraries and Highlights
Considering a projected timeline for the model course, which is planned for the fiscal year 2026, JTB has set forth potential itineraries and points of interest aimed at enriching the educational experience for students on these trips.
Future Expansion Plans
The rollout of this service will initially focus on public middle schools with a test run to gauge market response. Based on feedback, JTB plans to explore potential expansions while strengthening partnerships with educational institutions. As they enhance their offerings, they aim to further promote sustainable school trips, ensuring beneficial outcomes for both students and communities.
