Qarlbo Biodiversity and Woodland Biofuels Unite for a Greener Future through Sustainable Forestry

Qarlbo Biodiversity and Woodland Biofuels Join Forces for Sustainable Forestry

In a significant step towards enhancing ecological sustainability, Qarlbo Biodiversity has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Woodland Biofuels. The agreement aims to supply up to 500,000 tons of sustainably harvested pine forest thinnings from properties managed under Qarlbo's innovative Nature+® Forest Management Strategy.

This collaboration symbolizes a major milestone in the effective implementation of sustainable forestry practices, striving to balance both economic viability and ecological responsibility. The Nature+® strategy is not just about timber production; it is a comprehensive approach that prioritizes biodiversity conservation, restoration of native species, and sustainable production methods. By utilizing forest thinnings, this initiative actively contributes to carbon sequestration, biodiversity credits, and the fortification of resilient ecosystems.

CEO of Qarlbo Biodiversity, Aleksandra Holmlund, expressed optimism regarding this new partnership, stating, "This collaboration with Woodland Biofuels exemplifies how sustainable forestry can serve both economic and ecological goals." She elaborated that the thinnings generated for Woodland Biofuels are sourced from forests that have a commitment to local ecosystems, thus ensuring a minimal impact on the environment while meeting biomass needs.

The pine forest thinnings, which are to be sourced from Qarlbo’s various U.S. properties, include an operational initiative located on a notable 10,580-acre forest in southern Louisiana. This locality serves as a practical demonstration of the Nature+ strategy in action. The wood biomass produced not only meets certified sustainability criteria but also aligns with broader biodiversity objectives.

Greg Nuttall, CEO of Woodland Biofuels, highlighted the importance of this partnership in achieving responsible sourcing of renewable feedstocks, stating, "By using pine forest thinnings harvested in a sustainable way, we are advancing our mission to produce clean energy while supporting biodiversity and ecosystem health." Woodland Biofuels strives to transform these thinnings into ultra-clean, carbon-negative fuels through their proprietary biomass waste-to-fuel technology platform.

Qarlbo Biodiversity stands firm on its commitment to nature-positive land management practices, ensuring that it provides high-quality biomass with minimal ecological footprints. This restored approach helps protect existing ecosystems while simultaneously contributing to the development of sustainable economic frameworks across the Southeast United States. As this partnership unfolds, it is expected to yield numerous benefits, including job creation and the stimulation of local economies.
