Ash Environmental DAO's Funding Milestone
On May 16, 2025, the Ash Environmental DAO announced a pioneering funding initiative through its Ash Token cryptocurrency ecosystem. This initiative is a step forward in supporting environmentally innovative projects, aiming to drive economic transformation and create jobs through decentralized finance. A total of over $2 million was awarded in grants to an initial group of projects committed to sustainable innovation.
The standout recipient of this funding round is
GCS Fibers LLC, a U.S.-based company that is at the forefront of developing eco-friendly alternatives to conventional products. GCS Fibers has been recognized for its capacity to convert toxic coal ash into high-performance, non-toxic mineral fibers under its PHEENX® brand. The substantial grant will enable this start-up to restart operations at its production facility and launch commercial-scale production of its groundbreaking mineral fiber product. This not only supports the company’s innovative approach but also contributes significantly to reducing environmental pollution caused by coal ash disposal.
In addition to GCS Fibers, the DAO awarded $20,000 each to two other emerging companies:
Eco-Green Solutions LLC, which is focused on capturing greenhouse emissions, and
MetaFiber LLC, dedicated to the research and development of next-generation green materials. These grants are aimed at laying the foundation for a sustainable future through innovative solutions that tackle environmental issues head-on.
