Hcross Launches a Groundbreaking Collaborative Project
Hcross, an HR research institution operated by H.I.S. Co., Ltd. in Minato, Tokyo, has embarked on a new initiative aimed at fostering mutual understanding between students and corporations. This collaborative project, designed to address HR challenges while providing practical learning experiences for students, is set into motion with its first phase in partnership with Obirin University, located in Machida, Tokyo. An activity report session with the theme of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is scheduled for November 5, 2025, at the university's Shinjuku campus.
Aiming for an Open Innovation Platform
Hcross envisions creating an "open innovation platform" for HR practices, catalyzing collaboration with students who are tomorrow's workforce. By setting diverse HR challenges as themes and integrating fresh perspectives from students, Hcross seeks to explore innovative solutions in a continuous project format. This initiative aims not to merely serve as an information-sharing platform but to establish a hub for co-creation, where companies and future generations can collaborate to resolve HR issues of the future.
The focus for the first project is on DEIB, which stands for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. This initiative intends to cultivate business professionals equipped with both a global perspective and practical skills, partnering with the Business Management Program at Obirin University, known for its diverse academic offerings.
The Importance of DEIB in Business
In light of declining labor populations and increasing diversity in values, DEIB has emerged as a critical management issue essential for sustainable corporate growth. Many organizations are grappling with challenges such as ineffective application of their DEIB efforts, even when dedicated personnel are in place, or failing to translate training initiatives into actionable behavioral changes.
In this upcoming report session, a student team, guided by Associate Professors Masaru Kawasaki and Kazuhiro Chikayama, will present the outcomes of a six-month endeavor examining content development for advancing DEIB in organizations. Participants will not only witness student presentations but also engage in Q&A sessions and discussions, fostering a deeper shared learning experience.
