Celebrating Two Decades of Fashion and Philanthropy at The Bellevue Collection
The Bellevue Collection recently celebrated its 20th anniversary of Fashion Week, a significant milestone marking two decades of philanthropic efforts intertwined with fashion. This year’s event took place over the weekend of September 26 and 27, showcasing the latest trends while raising substantial funds for local nonprofits. A total of $63,000 was raised for WWIN (Women’s Wealth Initiative Network) and $43,000 for Sports In Schools, continuing a commendable legacy of over $1.5 million amassed for community support since 2005.
A Fashionable Celebration
The philanthropic runway shows were packed with excitement, offering a platform for local designers while bringing gorgeous fall outfits from The Bellevue Collection’s retailers into the spotlight. Supported by passionate attendees, the event highlighted a commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
Jennifer Leavitt, senior vice president of marketing for The Bellevue Collection, emphasized the significance of this year’s Fashion Week. "This event was especially meaningful as we celebrated two decades of outstanding contributions while also introducing our New Next Student Designer Showcase to uplift emerging talents," she stated. The involvement of the community and the support from the Kemper Freeman family and all attendees were pivotal in making this event a success.
Giving Back to the Community
Fashion Week is more than just a showcase of style; it creates a meaningful impact on local nonprofit organizations. The Trend Takeover Runway Show was aimed at supporting Sports In Schools, which provides opportunities for under-resourced youth in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. The organization enables students to apply for scholarships, receive equipment grants, and gain program support, ensuring that every child can participate in school sports. This engagement not only helps build confidence and community among the youth but also equips them with vital skills for personal growth and success.
In addition, The Collective Runway Show was dedicated to supporting WWIN, which empowers women from diverse backgrounds who face challenges in accessing career opportunities. Through an array of services including scholarships and professional support, WWIN strives to uplift women, enabling them to pursue education, achieve economic independence, and positively influence their families and communities. Since its inception in 1992, WWIN has distributed over $21 million in grants to women throughout Washington State.
