'Thank You Project' in Tachikawa City
The Tachikawa City Children's Policy Division is excited to announce an upcoming initiative called the "Thank You Project." This event is part of the city’s comprehensive plan, known as the 5th Dream-Nurturing Tachikawa Children 21 Plan, which emphasizes the importance of respecting children's rights.
In an effort to create a space where children’s opinions can be expressed and their rights to participate can be upheld, the city will host a dialogue between children and adults in the City Council Chamber. This initiative aims to foster a collaborative environment between children, parents, educators, and local residents.
One of the highlights of this project will be the artistic endeavor proposed by the representatives of Tachikawa City Second Elementary School (Tachikawa Shiraishi). Their suggestion to conduct the ''Thank You Project'' was officially accepted for the budget of the 2025 school year, and the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 24, from 9:45 AM until noon, with registration running from 9:45 AM to 10:05 AM.
The event will take place at Tachikawa City Second Elementary School, located at 3-23-1 Akebono-cho. The day will see students, teachers, parents, alumni, and community members gather together to paint murals inside the school building, creating a lasting tribute to their shared experiences and memories.
In an effort to allow media coverage and community engagement, journalists are encouraged to attend this significant event. To arrange for coverage, interested parties are asked to contact the school vice principal, Tomokazu Masuya, by phone before 4 PM on January 23 (Tel: 042-523-4438).
This celebration not only allows participants to express gratitude towards their school but also reinforces the community's commitment to fostering an environment where children’s voices are heard and appreciated. The resulting artwork will serve both as a visual expression of gratitude and a reminder of the importance of children's rights in our communal narratives.
Join us in celebrating education, community, and the vibrant spirit of Tachikawa’s youth through this heartfelt project. We look forward to welcoming members of the press and the community as we honor both the history and future of our school vision.
