SEGA Celebrates Grand Opening of Its First Flagship Store in Tokyo

SEGA Store Tokyo Opens Its Doors



On July 18, 2025, SEGA officially inaugurated the SEGA STORE TOKYO, the company's first flagship store in Japan, located on the sixth floor of Shibuya PARCO in Tokyo. This store represents a significant expansion of SEGA's transmedia strategy and aims to bring the vibrant world of SEGA to life through immersive experiences.

This flagship store follows the opening of SEGA STORE SHANGHAI in May 2025 and is designed to become a hub for fans to engage with SEGA's diverse intellectual properties (IPs). With a selection of over 800 products, including unique character goods and licensed items, visitors will find exclusive merchandise that showcases SEGA's creativity.

Grand Opening Ceremony



Prior to the store's grand opening, an inauguration ceremony was held on July 16, 2025. Notable attendees included Satoshi Uchiumi, the CEO of SEGA, Justin Scalpone, Executive Officer and Head of Transmedia Operations, along with Yugo Hiramatsu, Manager of Shibuya PARCO, and acclaimed artist and graphic designer Kosuke Kawamura, who created exclusive products for the SEGA STORE. During the ceremony, Uchiumi expressed an aspiration to become a new hub for fans to experience the diverse worlds of SEGA's IPs, promising to deliver fresh surprises and excitement to audiences worldwide.

At the grand opening, two exclusive products were showcased:
1. Sonic the Hedgehog × Kosuke Kawamura Limited-Edition Toy
- This unique collectible features SEGA's iconic character, Sonic the Hedgehog, designed by Kosuke Kawamura using his signature collage and shredder art style, embodying the innovative spirit of SEGA's flagship offerings.
2. SEGA Cooro™ Plushies
- A delightful new plush series named SEGA Cooro™ which aims to charm fans. The first wave introduces characters from the beloved Sonic franchise, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman, along with three main characters from the Yakuza series, Kiryu Kazuma, Kasuga Ichiban, and Goro Majima. These plush toys are designed to be incredibly cute and travel-friendly.

SEGA's Transmedia Strategy



SEGA is prioritizing its transmedia strategy, highlighting its goal to expand its rich portfolio of IPs across various media platforms. The establishment of a dedicated Transmedia Division set to launch in April 2024 reflects SEGA's commitment to integrating its beloved characters into games, merchandise, and more, allowing these characters to connect with a broader audience globally.

Uchiumi has assured fans that SEGA will continue to bridge generational and geographical boundaries, creating transmedia experiences that foster a deep connection between fans.
