Palline Group's Generous Donation to Disaster Support
On May 16, 2024, a significant event took place at the Tokyo Hachioji Center, organized by Palline Group, a logistics company based in Koto City, Tokyo. The company’s President, Tsukasa Ota, led the initiative to donate five 1.5-ton trucks to Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV). This gesture is aimed at enhancing disaster relief efforts by repurposing former delivery vehicles for a vital purpose.
Details of the Donation
The five donated trucks were previously utilized in Palline’s delivery services. Now deemed as surplus due to vehicle replacement, they are set for reallocation to PBV. In anticipation of large-scale disasters, these trucks will serve as essential vehicles for transporting supplies to affected areas and will be transformed into mobile kitchens among other uses.
Once transferred, PBV plans to retrofit the trucks into "FOOBOUR," equipped with kitchens, refrigeration, and power sources, to assist in disaster scenarios. Previously, similar converted trucks provided meals during the Noto Peninsula earthquake and acted as food storage units in remote areas that are challenging to access due to road conditions.
Support Beyond Disaster Response
During periods without immediate disaster relief needs, the trucks will be utilized to support food pantries in collaboration with local municipalities, providing essential items to those facing food insecurity. PBV recognizes that assistance is often lacking in sparsely populated regions and aims to deploy a fleet of ten trucks to address this pressing issue.
At the donation ceremony, Director Yasuhiko Ueshima expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I feel encouraged for our future activities. The cooperative delivery trucks can be driven with a standard license, making them easy to deploy. We will use them effectively.” In response, President Ota reflected on the significance of the donation, saying, “It is deeply moving that trucks, which previously contributed to the lives of users, are receiving a new opportunity to serve. We regularly rotate our vehicles, and we hope to continue our contributions moving forward.”
A Commitment to Community Support

With the International Year of Cooperatives approaching in 2025, this donation not only reinforces Palline’s role in society but also illustrates the potential impact of repurposing resources for greater good. It stands as a testament to how corporations can engage meaningfully in humanitarian efforts, proving that even the end of a vehicle’s delivery service can mark the beginning of a new journey towards community support and disaster relief.
