Ping An's Strategic Response to Typhoon Dolphin: A Commitment to Customer Relief and Support

On August 11, 2026, as Typhoon Dolphin intensified, impacting multiple provinces in China and triggering catastrophic rainfall alerts, Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. demonstrated swift action in response to this natural disaster. This marked the 13th typhoon of the year and required immediate intervention. Here’s how Ping An has mobilized its resources and technology to ensure timely assistance to its customers.

Activation of Emergency Response Mechanism

Upon the onset of Typhoon Dolphin, Ping An promptly enacted its emergency protocol, setting up a specialized task force aimed at managing disaster relief along with customer service operations. Their response strategy encompassed an extensive activation of their various insurance sectors, including life, property, casualty, health, and annuity insurance. The company launched fast-track claims services paired with a dedicated 24-hour customer hotline, 95511, which has effectively provided urgent support to individuals affected by the storm.

As of the afternoon of August 11, Ping An’s Property Casualty Insurance division reported receiving over 27,000 claims, with expected payouts surpassing RMB 650 million. While there was only one claim documented under Ping An Life Insurance, the company ensured to assist that customer meticulously. Notably, no claims had been reported under the health insurance or annuity divisions at this time, suggesting a focused impact primarily on property-related losses following the typhoon.

Technology-Driven Risk Prevention

Before the typhoon made landfall, Ping An utilized its innovative Eagle Eye DRS Risk Reduction Platform to keep a vigilant eye on the storm’s path. This proactive approach allowed the company to issue over 48.99 million alerts, reaching 22.25 million individuals along with 1.16 million corporations. In conjunction with these alerts, Ping An took the initiative to conduct inspections on 2,458 flood-prone sites.

To safeguard vehicles susceptible to flood damage, the company facilitated the relocation of over 2,770 cars to safer areas. Additionally, they coordinated with local authorities to close down more than 200 road sections deemed high-risk.

In the face of challenges for the agricultural sector, Ping An ensured 6.64 million alerts were dispatched to inform 534,000 farmers about impending disaster risks, alongside advice for mitigating damage. They even coordinated efforts to bolster agricultural infrastructure and organized the emergency harvesting of rice across over 88,000 mu of farmland to minimize inevitable losses.

Mobilization of Resources for Rescue and Recovery

To effectively deal with the aftermath of flooding and avoid secondary geological hazards, Ping An dispatched 1,866 specialists focused on areas affected by the storm. This fleet included experts in flooded vehicle claims, new energy vehicle batteries, and auto glass repair, ensuring a swift resolution of issues faced by their policyholders.

In addition, Ping An deployed 425 rescue tow trucks and mobilized an extensive array of over 4,000 emergency supplies, such as flood-control sandbags and water barriers. This prompt supply chain management highlights the company’s dedication to assisting communities during and after natural disasters.

Beyond assisting its own customers, Ping An extended its support to individuals outside its client base, affirming its commitment to community welfare. The company consistently monitors weather changes and will continue to coordinate resources to provide expedient emergency aid, effective claims processing, and persistent customer service.

For those in need, Ping An has encouraged everyone to reach out via their 24-hour assistance hotline at 95511. If further support is necessary, they are prepared to activate their Global Emergency Assistance Service to provide additional help as required.
