Unlikely Collaborators Fund New Mental Health Initiatives Through Energy Therapies Foundation

Unlikely Collaborators Awards Grant to Foundation for Energy Therapies

Unlikely Collaborators has recently made a significant contribution to the Foundation for Energy Therapies, Inc., aimed at bolstering the inaugural Integrative Mental Health University (IMHU). This innovative educational platform is dedicated to enhancing mental health care by merging rigorous scientific exploration with spiritual wisdom.

IMHU is pioneering a new frontier in mental health treatment that acknowledges spiritual experiences as integral to human well-being. By adopting a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model, it trains mental health professionals on how to compassionately assist individuals who undergo profound spiritual transformations. These experiences, often seen as crises, can lead to extensive healing and personal growth when approached with the right support.

The university offers an impressive array of 46 courses designed to broaden understanding of mental health, incorporating not just psychological and social elements but also the non-ordinary experiences that people may encounter, such as near-death experiences. This comprehensive model aims to provide a more well-rounded approach to mental health, moving beyond traditional frameworks.

Since its inception in 2013, IMHU has empowered therapists, physicians, nurses, spiritual guides, and coaches with specialized training to navigate the complex terrain of spiritually transformative experiences. A key component of its curriculum includes offering continuing education credits, certification programs, and hands-on community learning.

Unlikely Collaborators, a non-profit organization led by Elizabeth R. Koch, believes that much of human suffering stems from unexamined beliefs and internal conflicts. The organization supports initiatives that promote self-awareness and foster meaningful dialogue. The essence of their mission is encapsulated in the Perception Box™ framework, which illustrates how biases, beliefs, and personal narratives shape our understanding of reality. By analyzing and working through these perceptions, both individuals and communities can experience enhanced compassion, creativity, and connect with different viewpoints.

Emma Bragdon, PhD, the President and Co-Executive Director of IMHU, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Unlikely Collaborators, emphasizing the importance of incorporating spirituality into mental health care. She stated, "IMHU is honored to collaborate with Unlikely Collaborators to advance an integrative model that recognizes spirituality as a vital component of care, alongside the mind, body, and social connection."

This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards establishing a holistic model in mental health care, paving the way for future advancements that integrate various aspects of the human experience. As mainstream mental health systems continue to evolve, IMHU aspires to be at the forefront, guiding professionals and individuals alike to contemplate their understanding of consciousness, identity, and healing.
