GAC Triumphs with Eight Awards at the China-SAE Science and Technology Awards

On October 28, GAC proudly showcased its technical prowess by winning a total of eight awards, including a remarkable four first prizes at the prestigious China-SAE Science and Technology Awards held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. This event recognized GAC's significant advances and contributions in the automotive sector, particularly in automotive chips, electric drive systems, vehicle safety, intelligent driving controls, and body design.

A Broad Spectrum of Achievements

The awards reflect GAC's commitment to excellence and innovation across various projects:

• - Automotive Chips: GAC led a project that established a seamless supply chain from vehicle definition to large-scale application, collaborating with 105 partners to utilize nearly 400 chip models and produce over 1,000 domestically manufactured chips. Notably, they launched the HYPTEC GT Special Edition, China’s first Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) powered entirely by domestically developed chips.

• - Electric Drive Systems: By pioneering the mass production of amorphous alloy stators and high-speed carbon fiber rotors, GAC became the world’s only manufacturer producing automotive motors from amorphous materials. Their motors achieve a remarkable peak efficiency of 99.03%, with a power density of 17.29 kW/kg at 1,000 V, significantly exceeding industry standards. This technology, already integrated into models like HYPTEC, AION, and AISTALAND, can reduce energy consumption by 4% while extending driving range by 30 to 50 km.

• - Vehicle Safety: GAC's collaborative project with Tsinghua University garnered a second prize for developing China’s first fully domestically produced ASIL-D safety controller, real-time risk assessment tools, an active suspension system designed to mitigate side-impact damage, and even a rear window airbag. These innovations have been incorporated into 20 different vehicle models, cumulatively exceeding sales of 1.446 million units.

• - Intelligent Design: Another project developed a body-in-white (BIW) design system powered by AI, capable of generating concept designs in just 5 hours with a stiffness prediction accuracy exceeding 95%. This innovative system has already been used in the second generation of the GAC GS8, GAC ES9, and the all-new GAC S7.
