Online Community Launched by Zurich Insurance and QON to Address Climate Change
In an effort to engage the public in meaningful discussions about climate change, Zurich Insurance Company and QON Inc. have jointly established an online community titled
“Let’s Talk About Climate Change!” This initiative, which went live on
May 27, 2025, aims to encourage people from all walks of life to consider their role in combating climate change and take actionable steps.
As climate change continues to impact our environment significantly, the need for individual awareness and action becomes crucial. The community provides a safe and welcoming space for participants to ask questions—such as, “What can we do about climate change?” and “What does carbon neutrality mean?”—and share their experiences and actions regarding environmental issues. This initiative aims to foster an environment where members can learn together and empathize with one another, contributing to a collaborative effort towards a better future.
A Platform for Open Dialogue
Participants can engage in informal discussions on various topics, ranging from recent weather concerns to protecting cherished natural landscapes. By focusing on these relatable themes, the community encourages individuals to express themselves in their own words, making climate discussions more approachable and less intimidating.
According to staff at Zurich, the establishment of this community aligns with the company’s mission to create a brighter future together. Zurich aims to be a responsible global company that actively participates in addressing climate change—one of the most pressing challenges of our time. The company’s observance of extreme weather events such as record high temperatures, heavy snowfall, floods, and wildfires further emphasizes the urgency of the matter.
Zurich’s Commitment to Sustainability
Beginning in 2014, Zurich has pursued a path toward becoming a carbon-neutral company and has joined several international initiatives aimed at tackling climate change. Notably, in 2020, they initiated the
Zurich Forest Project in Brazil, which supports forest regeneration and biodiversity. However, Zurich acknowledges that a single insurance company can only do so much; addressing climate change requires a collective global effort. This new community is seen as a vital first step in fostering dialogue on this global issue.
Through the community, Zurich and QON will gain deeper insights into the thoughts and values of citizens, leveraging these insights to inform future business and sustainability strategies. They view this initiative as a long-term investment in brand value and community awareness, contributing positively to society and the environment.
Building Connections and Sharing Knowledge
The
“Let’s Talk About Climate Change!” community is part of a broader initiative by QON, which has been operating the
“Kizuna Community” since January 2020. This online platform has attracted over
200,000 people and more than
70 companies and municipalities, fostering interactions centered around themes of connection and collaboration. Community members are encouraged to share their insights and contribute to events designed to co-create value based on citizen feedback.
By fostering an online environment that prioritizes community dialogue, Zurich and QON hope to inspire more sustainable choices. Their vision encompasses cultivating the awareness required to spark positive changes in both individual behavior and societal development moving forward.
