Auburn Engineering Launches Gulf Coast Research Station



Auburn University has officially begun the construction of its much-anticipated Gulf Coast Engineering Research Station in Orange Beach, Alabama. On July 24, 2025, engineers wielding golden shovels embarked on this pivotal project, aiming to strengthen the resilience of the Gulf Coast region. With an area extending over 21,000 square feet, the research station is designed with collaboration in mind, featuring laboratories, offices, large meeting spaces, and outdoor areas.

The facility will provide direct access to the scenic views of Terry Cove, symbolizing a commitment to research and environmental sustainability in local communities. Auburn President Chris Roberts stated that this groundbreaking marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the university's 2035 strategic plan, highlighting their intention to foster synergistic partnerships with organizations and institutions focused on marine and environmental sciences.
