EmpaC's Engaging Workshop for Gen Z
On July 18, 2025, EmpaC's CEO Mai Matsuyama took the stage at the Softpia Japan venue in Gifu Prefecture. This event was part of the 'SNS Creators Camp,' which aimed to empower around 300 high school students from the region, all belonging to Generation Z. The workshop, supported by the city of Ogaki and the local education board, focused on nurturing skills in self-expression and community contributions through social media.
The Importance of SNS for Generation Z
Social media is often called "the language of today". In this context, the workshop served not only as an educational platform but also as a means to enrich the local cultural fabric. Mai Matsuyama explained key concepts such as "the viral structure of social media" and "how to create content that resonates with others." She emphasized that effective SNS strategies are essential for engaging this digitally-savvy generation.
The participants were actively involved in a hands-on workshop where they brainstormed and developed their own post ideas. This practical segment yielded numerous innovative ideas from the enthusiastic young attendees, showcasing their creativity and understanding of SNS dynamics.
Commentary from Mai Matsuyama
Matsuyama reflected on the significance of SNS as a tool for fostering empathy and societal engagement. "Through this experience, I felt strongly that the local Gen Z participants could connect with the world in their own words. Their ability to communicate and express themselves through social media is crucial for shaping the future of their communities and society as a whole." Her insights highlight how future leaders can emerge from spontaneous, real-world training environments like the SNS Creators Camp.
Collaboration Between Government and Companies
This initiative was organized by the Minamo Committee, in collaboration with local government entities, educational institutions, and private organizations. Programs like this show how vital partnerships can be in fostering innovation and creativity among young people. EmpaC is committed to further developing SNS skills and supporting the next generation in local regions.
The Minamo Committee is also organizing a live viewing of "LuckyFes’25" and the "Gifu Nagaragawa Fireworks Festival" on August 9, 2025, at Softpia Japan. This event serves as a recreational outlet for residents and provides students an excellent opportunity to apply their newfound skills in social media from the workshop.
Later this year, on October 20, the Minamo Committee will hold one of its biggest events, the "Gifu Con Valley," at Gifu University of Technology. This pitching event will showcase numerous venture businesses and startups from across Japan. Interestingly, the judges will predominantly consist of students who participated in the SNS Creators Camp. It will be fascinating to see how these young reviewers assess the pitches from emerging companies.
