AlphaESS Maintains Tier 1 Status from BloombergNEF
In an impressive show of reliability and innovation, AlphaESS has earned its status as a Tier 1 global energy storage manufacturer for the fifth consecutive quarter, according to BloombergNEF's Q4 2026 list. This acknowledgment not only reinforces AlphaESS's strong track record in energy storage initiatives but also highlights the company's growing footprint in the global utility-scale market.
Stricter Evaluation Criteria
This recent recognition comes amid new, stricter criteria set forth by BloombergNEF, which requires energy storage equipment manufacturers to demonstrate substantial project experience backed by non-recourse financing from at least two commercial banks. The ongoing inclusion of AlphaESS in this prestigious Tier 1 list provides invaluable guidance for developers, investors, and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) partners as they assess potential suppliers in the energy storage sector.
Expansion Across Europe
AlphaESS is making significant strides in expanding its utility-scale projects throughout Europe, with notable developments in countries such as Lithuania, Austria, and Germany, adding up to a total of 200 MWh of energy storage capacity. In Lithuania, the company has successfully passed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for a substantial 120 MWh battery energy storage project that employs AlphaESS's innovative Aster 5000 system, with equipment set for shipment soon.
In Austria, AlphaESS contributed the DC-side battery system for a 30 MW / 60 MWh project located in Hörsching. Notably, this project integrates solar power generation, battery storage solutions, and electric truck charging capabilities. It also supports vital grid services and delivers backup power, with the 40 MWh grid-services section commencing operations in September 2026.
Meanwhile, in Germany, AlphaESS is set to supply the DC-side battery system for a distinct 20 MWh project aimed at grid balancing and energy arbitrage, with commissioning activities planned for 2027.
Aster 5000 Technology
At the core of AlphaESS's operations is the Aster 5000, a cutting-edge liquid-cooled battery energy storage system designed to fit into a 20-foot container, offering around 5 MWh of capacity per unit. This advanced solution boasts intelligent thermal management, a sophisticated battery management system, and multi-layer safety protection, making it an ideal choice for diverse utility-scale applications, including grid stabilization and renewable energy integration.
These large-scale projects, coupled with AlphaESS's innovative technologies, signify the company's commitment to delivering scalable and reliable energy storage solutions that meet the pressing demands of the evolving energy landscape.
