Energy Fuels Reports Third Quarter 2026 Results with Strategic Milestones Achieved
Energy Fuels Q3 2026 Results
Energy Fuels Inc., a prominent player in the mining and production of rare earth elements (REEs) and uranium, recently disclosed its financial and operational results for the third quarter ending September 30, 2026. The company, listed on multiple stock exchanges including NYSE and ASX, continues to demonstrate its leadership in the sector.
Financial Highlights
In the third quarter, Energy Fuels achieved a revenue of $29.2 million, predominantly from uranium sales. The company successfully sold 320,000 pounds of U3O8 at a weighted average realized price of $88.90 per pound, which resulted in total uranium revenues amounting to $28.4 million. Notably, sales comprised 50,000 pounds of uranium from spot transactions yielding $4.5 million and a significant bulk of 270,000 pounds from long-term contracts generating $24.0 million.
Despite the positive sales figures, Energy Fuels reported a net loss of $52.4 million or $0.20 per share. This loss largely stemmed from $35.3 million in non-cash, unrealized losses on marketable securities as interest rates rose, thereby impacting the fair value of interest-bearing debt securities. Efforts to offset these losses included $9.4 million in cash interest income from the company's securities portfolio.
Operational Performance
Energy Fuels' uranium segment maintained profitability for the third consecutive quarter. The average realized price per pound of U3O8 sold grew by 10% from the previous quarter and 27% year-over-year. Operational costs for the production of uranium remained consistent, showcasing the company's efficiency.
The company's liquidity position as of September 30, 2026, was robust, with working capital reported at $932.3 million. This includes $76.4 million cash, $779.5 million in marketable securities, and inventory worth $90.3 million.
Strategic Acquisitions
A key highlight during the quarter was the completion of the acquisition of Australian Strategic Materials Ltd. (ASM). This acquisition has strengthened Energy Fuels' position in the REE market by incorporating the Korean Metals Plant (KMP), which is capable of producing REE metals and alloys at a commercial scale. This integration is a pivotal part of the company's strategy to develop an end-to-end REE supply chain in the Western market.
Moreover, Energy Fuels has made significant strides in advancing its further acquisition of Vacuumschmelze GmbH & Co. KG (VAC), which is poised to enhance its capabilities significantly, making it a prominent player in the REE magnet production landscape, especially outside of China and Japan.
Future Endeavors and Expansion Plans
Amid these advancements, the company also announced the initiation of construction for commercial-scale heavy rare earth circuits at its White Mesa Mill in Utah. This is set to expand its capacity to produce critical REE products such as dysprosium and terbium vital for various high-tech applications, including automotive, robotics, and defense industries. The expansion is expected to enhance Energy Fuels’ production capabilities by early 2028.
The Donald Project, a venture in collaboration with Astron Limited, is progressing as well, with the potential to provide a long-term source of feedstock essential for the company’s operations. Recent financing achievements have brought the project closer to securing final investment decisions (FID).
Up until Q3 2026, Energy Fuels has mined 385,000 pounds of U3O8. With the prospect of increased ore production from the Pinyon Plain mine due to continuous mining advancements, the company aims to sustain supply for both long-term contracts and potential spot sales as market conditions evolve.
This proactive approach in expanding operational capabilities and strategic acquisitions underscores Energy Fuels' commitment to not only maintaining but enhancing its leadership in the critical materials sector. A conference call to discuss these results is slated for November 5, 2026, reflecting the company's transparent communication with stakeholders about its ongoing progress and future direction.
