American Diabetes Association Announces Groundbreaking Winners of 2026 Innovation Challenge

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced the winners of its 2026 Innovation Challenge during the opening of its 2026 Scientific Sessions. This annual competition seeks innovative ideas from emerging companies capable of transforming diabetes care. Underlining a commitment to advancements in diabetes management, the ADA is excited to both encourage and recognize innovative solutions.

Jane Ruan, Vice President of Strategy for the ADA, expressed immense pride in the talent displayed, stating, "There is tremendous excitement around advances in diabetes care right now. We're proud to support continued innovation and investment in possibilities that bring us ever closer to the ADA's vision of a life free of diabetes and all its burdens. Congratulations to this year's winners."

Among this year’s diverse group of finalists, three standout winners were recognized:

1. Adaptyx Biosciences - This company is at the forefront of developing wearable biosensors that provide continuous biochemical data, going beyond mere glucose monitoring to also include information on hormones, small molecules, electrolytes, and proteins.

2. Nymble Health - Leveraging artificial intelligence, Nymble Health has created a chronic disease management platform that delivers personalized, evidence-based behavioral support through simple text message interactions. This innovative approach is designed to reduce friction, enhance adherence, and enable patients to take charge of their health journeys effectively.

3. Silverstream Medical - Focusing on the often-overlooked transition from hospital care to home care, Silverstream Medical has developed a unique solution aimed at limb preservation, highlighting the importance of continuity in care post-discharge.

In addition to these celebrated wins, finalists included:
  • - Alnu Health, a platform designed to extend support for chronic disease patients between medical appointments.
  • - Flow Health Science, whose product Klario® is a clinically investigated multi-energy drink that provides rapid support during instances of low blood sugar, allowing users to return to their daily activities without significant interruptions.

Successful candidates gain not only the award recognition on the national stage but also have the opportunity for potential investment of up to $50,000 through ADA's Innovation Fund. Moreover, winners will have access to a post-challenge accelerator program designed to foster their growth within the healthcare landscape.

The application period for the 2027 Innovation Challenge is set to open in January 2027, inviting emerging innovators to step forward with solutions that could future-proof diabetes care.
