Traditionally, resolving these difficult cases relied heavily on textbooks, external consultations, or databases, all of which could be time-consuming and costly. Immediate Access to Comparative Cases

Dr. Simon Schallenberg, an Associate Professor at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, notes that obtaining a second opinion on a challenging case can often take hours, especially when digitized images are shared. He adds, "Having comparable diagnosed cases from PathoSearch to look at immediately means we start much better informed."

The magic of PathoSearch lies in its ability to match images using proprietary technology. By employing Aignostics' specialized pathology foundation model, Atlas 2—co-developed with the Mayo Clinic—PathoSearch intelligently analyzes morphology and retrieves suitable diagnosed cases from an extensive multi-center database.

Extensive Database and Its Implications

Currently, PathoSearch features over 310,000 whole slide images sourced from more than 35,000 cases across 300 diagnostic entities and 27 organs. With its potential to exceed a million slide images by the time of general availability, the breadth of cases available is set to enhance diagnostic confidence significantly. Coverage focuses primarily on malignant tumors, spanning five critical organ groups, including thoracic, digestive, soft tissue and bone, female genital, and urinary male genital systems, adhering to the WHO Classification of Tumors.

Importantly, all referenced cases in PathoSearch are validated and annotated by pathologists. They have often been confirmed by molecular testing, ensuring that each retrieval is reliable and supported by robust evidence—a crucial requirement in the medical field.

Integration into Existing Systems

To improve usability further, Aignostics has made strides in integrating PathoSearch into existing management systems, with the first integration already live on Techcyte Fusion® AP. This integration allows pathologists using Fusion to seamlessly access similar cases while examining current slides, maximizing their efficiency.

For a limited time, PathoSearch is offered for free during its early access phase, allowing interested pathologists to join a waitlist. Aignostics emphasizes that the platform is intended solely for research purposes and is not to be utilized in diagnostic procedures directly.
