The Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), a renowned global leadership community of chief executives spanning over 150 countries, proudly announced the election of Debby Carreau as its Global Chairman. Carreau officially began her one-year term on July 1, 2025, succeeding Sofyan Almoayed, and making history as the 74th individual to hold this prestigious position.
In her statement, Carreau expressed her gratitude, saying, "It is an honor to serve as YPO's global chairman and to give back to a community that has profoundly shaped my leadership journey." This sentiment resonates deeply especially as YPO prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary. She emphasized her commitment to fostering bold, innovative ideas and enhancing connections within this extraordinary organization while highlighting the collective goal of shaping the future of leadership.
Carreau, a member of the YPO Gold British Columbia and YPO Alberta Gold chapters, is not a newcomer to leadership. She is the CEO and founder of Inspired HR, a consultancy that aids over 300,000 employees from various industries. Additionally, her recent venture, Stack HRo, seeks to further broaden her impact in the HR landscape. Carreau is recognized as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women and is regarded as a thought leader in human capital, serving on multiple corporate and non-profit boards. She is also the author of
The Mentor Myth, a resource aimed at empowering individuals through self-driven career development.
Joining YPO in 2011, Carreau has held several key leadership roles, including deputy chairman, and chair of both the Global Conduct Committee and the Compensation and HR Committee, as well as serving as a global board director from 2019 to 2023. Her extensive experience has equipped her with a solid foundation to tackle leadership challenges and improve member experiences throughout the expansive YPO network.
As Global Chairman, Carreau plans to focus on elevating innovative ideas that will serve as catalysts for leadership development and global connections among YPO members. Amidst a rapidly evolving world, her vision involves empowering fellow leaders to confront challenges with clarity, conviction, and a comprehensive global outlook. This strategic focus aims to navigate YPO towards its next 75 years of growth, ensuring relevance and a significant positive global impact.
YPO itself is a unique and influential community of more than 35,000 chief executives across 150 countries. Its members are distinguished by their remarkable leadership accomplishments achieved at a remarkably young age, thereby committing to a lifelong journey of learning and impactful contributions. Collectively, these leaders oversee businesses that generate over USD 9 trillion in annual revenue and employ more than 22 million individuals worldwide.
As the organization embarks on this new chapter under Carreau's leadership, the anticipation is palpable within the global community.
