FOTON Unveils Comprehensive Global Development Strategy at IAA Hannover

The IAA Transportation event in Hannover is set to be a pivotal moment for FOTON, a leader in the global commercial vehicle sector, as it unveils its systematic global development plan. The industry is witnessing a significant shift towards electrification, smart technologies, and low-emission solutions. Europe, with its stringent access regulations and well-established commercial environment, serves as an ideal testing ground for evaluating the capabilities of commercial vehicle manufacturers. FOTON has consistently demonstrated its leadership in the field, being the top exporter of commercial vehicles from China for 15 consecutive years.

FOTON’s evolution reflects a transition from a product-focused globalization model to one that emphasizes sustainable and value-driven globalization. This transformation is informed by a comprehensive export system that encompasses not only vehicle manufacturing but also technology transfer and the creation of local ecosystems supportive of its operations. Technologically, FOTON has secured vital market access credentials, with several of its all-electric vans and light trucks meeting the stringent WVTA certification and VECTO emissions standards. These achievements empower FOTON to engage effectively with the high-end European market.

The rapid deployment of FOTON's CAVAN New Energy vehicles across 15 European countries, alongside burgeoning markets such as Australia and New Zealand, underscores the company's ambition to leverage China's strengths in renewable energy technologies into a global supply chain focused on green mobility solutions.

Production-wise, FOTON boasts 32 international manufacturing sites, strategically located across Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. It has also formed a joint venture with COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers to bolster its supply chain capabilities, ensuring dedicated maritime transport for exports. The establishment of strategic factories in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia is accelerating, forming part of a resilient global industrial network that emphasizes local partnerships.

In Europe, FOTON’s regional distribution center for spare parts in Unna, Germany, is now operational, complementing 18 additional global distribution centers. This extensive network ensures that spare parts are accessible 24/7, facilitating swift after-sales services and responsiveness throughout Europe. FOTON’s export volume surged to 149,000 units from January to August 2026, marking a remarkable 44.3% year-over-year increase, showcasing strong market validation of its global capabilities.

Highlighting its commitment to the European market, FOTON will launch its new European strategy at IAA on September 14, along with the global delivery of its 13 millionth vehicle. The event will also see the debut of the CAVAN BEACON, an intelligent heavy-duty truck compatible with both battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell technologies, alongside seven models of new energy vehicles and six key self-developed components, aimed at addressing major transportation use cases in the European market.

The IAA is more than just a vehicle exhibition; it offers a comprehensive insight into FOTON's global development capabilities. As global attention turns to Europe, this event marks a significant chapter in the ongoing globalization of China's commercial vehicle sector. Attendees are encouraged to join FOTON in Hannover on September 14 to witness this new chapter unfold, demonstrating FOTON's unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainable transportation solutions in the global marketplace.
