Parmigiano-Reggiano Tea Ceremony: A Fusion of Cultures
On November 28, 2025, an extraordinary tea ceremony will unfold in a traditional tea room in Tokyo, hosted by the Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese Association (CFPR) from Reggio Emilia, Italy. This special event, titled “The Way of Parmigiano-Reggiano,” will explore the intersections between the Japanese tea ceremony, known as “Chanoyu,” and the spirit of craftsmanship that defines Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese-making.
Leading the ceremony will be George Inaki, the founder of Miramore Jewelry, recognized for his philosophy of Kintsugi, alongside the tea ceremony master, Takaya Matsuoka, representing the Urasenke School. Their dialogue will not only highlight the intricacies of tea culture but also draw parallels with the age-old practices involved in producing this revered cheese.
The event aims to strengthen the ties between the two revered cultural practices, showcasing how they both embody a shared philosophy of mindfulness and respect. Celebrated figures from various fields, including film producer MEGUMI, talent Misako Yasuda, actress Kurumi Nakata, and MARIUS Leaf, are expected to attend, adding a layer of contemporary relevance to this cultural exchange.
