Transforming Workplace Dynamics with Anger Management Training



On August 19, 2023, Pal System Kanagawa, located in Yokohama, conducted an innovative anger management training session at its headquarters in Shin-Yokohama. The event marked the first of its kind since signing a comprehensive collaboration agreement with Seisa University, aiming to enhance employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. By inviting distinguished faculty, the session sought to provide insights into emotional management through cognitive behavioral therapy.

Under the guidance of Prof. Masaaki Taira from Seisa University's Faculty of Coexistence Science, attendees explored different methods to recognize and manage their emotions within a workplace setting. Prof. Taira brought a wealth of experience from both practical and theoretical perspectives, particularly in supporting people with disabilities through educational and welfare initiatives.

During the workshop, participants engaged in activities that focused on understanding the mechanisms behind feelings of anger, allowing them to adopt a more flexible mindset when encountering challenges at work. Rather than solely looking to suppress anger, the training emphasized the importance of objectively acknowledging one’s emotions, enabling participants to respond more adaptively in various situations.

Enhancing Support Skills to Promote Diversity



The training aligns with a broader commitment shared by Pal System Kanagawa and Seisa University, which includes a recent agreement signed on August 11, 2023, aimed at promoting employment for individuals with disabilities. This partnership focuses on providing mental health support and educational resources for staff who work directly to assist disabled employees.

The collaboration is designed to respect diversity and create customized learning environments that cater to the unique needs of various individuals. By leveraging the know-how from special support education, Seisa University will deliver training and educational opportunities tailored for the staff at Pal System Kanagawa. This initiative is expected to improve the skills of supporters, ultimately facilitating a work environment where all employees, regardless of their abilities, can thrive.

Pal System Kanagawa currently employs 21 individuals with disabilities in various roles, including operations at their delivery center and supported employment initiatives conducted through their subsidiary, Heart Co-op Shonan. This new training represents a pivotal step towards enhancing the skills of those providing support services, ensuring a more inclusive workplace.

As part of their forward-looking strategy, Pal System Kanagawa is eager to expand partnerships with various organizations within the community in light of the forthcoming 2025 International Cooperative Year, working towards creating a society where everyone has the opportunity to excel regardless of their backgrounds.
