New TV Commercials Featuring Chocolate Planet
Able, a prominent rental agency based in Minato, Tokyo, has announced the launch of its latest TV commercials featuring the popular comedy duo, Chocolate Planet, consisting of Shohei Osada and Shun Matsuo. Starting January 4, 2026, viewers across Japan will be treated to not just one, but two exciting new commercials: 'Able Dance 2026' and 'Able Search Lost'. This marks the second consecutive year that Chocolate Planet has been selected as the brand's image characters, showcasing their continued partnership with Able.
Revitalizing Apartment Hunting with Fun
The new campaign aims to enhance the experience of apartment searching. The first commercial, 'Able Dance 2026', builds upon the lively themes established in last year's ad, where the duo is joined by students and young professionals marching into Able stores, celebrating the joy and excitement of finding a new home. The theme this year is clear: 'Searching for a room is better with consultation than just looking online!'.
The concept emphasizes engaging with Able's knowledgeable staff, reinforcing a personal connection that facilitates a more enjoyable experience in apartment hunting. The upbeat choreography, refined from last year's, invites viewers to not only enjoy the vibrating beat but to also feel the camaraderie of stepping into a store for expert advice.
Challenging the Conventional Search Method
The second commercial, 'Able Search Lost', challenges the modern trend of relying solely on smartphone searches for apartment hunting. It asks the poignant question: Is making such an important life choice as finding a room best done alone? With numerous stores available nationwide, Able provides access to experts who assist individuals in discovering options they may not have considered. The commercial illustrates how consulting with these professionals can lead to a quicker discovery of one’s ideal home compared to methodically searching each potential space.
Behind the Scenes Insights
Filming the commercials came with its own set of challenges, particularly with Shohei Osada having sustained a foot injury prior to filming. Safety was a priority during production, ensuring that Osada had the necessary support. Nonetheless, the filming exceeded expectations, showcasing Osada’s talent for dance and balance, alongside Matsuo and a cast of extras providing a lively backdrop. The choreography for the 2026 campaign is not only more vibrant but is designed to engage viewers with its energetic and humorous flair.
Additionally, a vertical-format video version has been created, drawing inspiration from Chocolate Planet's popular YouTube content, where Osada and Matsuo humorously convey Able's appeal. This friendly atmosphere during filming led to plenty of improvisation, making it a delightful experience for everyone involved. This behind-the-scenes footage will be available on Able's official social media channels starting January 10, coinciding with the TV commercials' launch.
