Watercrest Senior Living Group Unveils Spirit of Community with Costume Contest
This fall, Watercrest Senior Living Group has taken a unique approach to engaging their communities by hosting their inaugural company-wide costume contest. The event, which encouraged participation from associates, residents, and their families, was a colorful celebration of creativity and community spirit.
Celebrating Creativity and Togetherness
The contest allowed employees from various Watercrest senior living communities, stretching from South Florida to Central Virginia, to showcase their imaginative themed costumes. This invitation to participate emphasized the importance of community interaction and aimed to foster closer relationships among staff and residents.
Submissions for the contest were incredibly diverse— from an artistic pumpkin-head music video to a lively reenactment of the classic TV show, Let's Make a Deal. Such creativity captured the Halloween spirit while allowing every participant to express themselves.
A Competitive yet Fun Voting Process
The contest included a voting phase that engaged thousands of online followers. Over five days, Watercrest community Facebook pages saw a surge of participation, amassing around 20,000 engagements and gaining 350 new followers. The competition was fierce, with the leading team securing over 950 votes. The crown went to the Watercrest Winter Park community, which impressed the judges with their vibrant 'Rockin'' costume theme.
Following closely was Watercrest Myrtle Beach with their innovative portrayal of Let's Make a Deal, while Watercrest Macon’s superhero ensemble clinched third place. Their acknowledgment of artistic execution was impressively awarded to the Pumpkin Head video from Watercrest Santa Rosa Beach.
Jessica Desjarlais, the Director of Associate Experience at Watercrest, expressed her admiration for the enthusiasm and creativity displayed throughout the contest. In her words, "The energy, creativity, and enthusiasm in this company-wide contest was truly inspiring. The residents and associates were joyfully engaged, and the comments across Watercrest's social media pages were incredibly supportive."
Engaging Residents in Festivities
In addition to the costume contest, residents across the various communities joined the festivities, which included Halloween-themed parties and trunk-or-treat activities. Such events were more than just simple gatherings; they opened the door for residents to engage fully in the Halloween experience. For instance, the team at Watercrest Richmond embraced a spooky transformation into The Addams Family, while Watercrest St. Lucie West brought humor to life with food and condiment costumes. The Market Street East Lake community took everyone back to the 80s with their groovy outfits.
Classic television shows and movies served as popular themes; favorites like The Wizard of Oz, Hocus Pocus, Shrek, and Gilligan’s Island resonated with voters and became favorites during the contest.
