AlphaESS Secures BloombergNEF Tier 1 Status for Fifth Consecutive Quarter

AlphaESS Recognized as Tier 1 Energy Storage Manufacturer

In a remarkable achievement, AlphaESS has once again clinched the coveted Tier 1 status from BloombergNEF (BNEF) as a leading global energy storage manufacturer for the fourth quarter of 2026. This recognition marks the fifth consecutive quarter that AlphaESS has secured this esteemed title, underscoring its continuous excellence and innovation in the energy storage sector.

Strict Criteria for Tier 1 Recognition

The criteria for being listed as a Tier 1 energy storage manufacturer have become more stringent this quarter. BNEF now requires service providers in the energy storage sector to demonstrate their experience with projects backed by non-recourse financing from at least two commercial banks within eligible projects. AlphaESS's continued inclusion in this prestigious list serves as a reliable reference for developers, investors, and partners in evaluating potential energy storage suppliers.

Expanding Large-Scale Storage Projects in Europe

AlphaESS is significantly broadening its footprint in Europe, working on several large-scale energy storage projects across the continent. Recent developments in Lithuania, Austria, and Germany have achieved an impressive combined capacity of 200 MWh. In Lithuania, AlphaESS successfully passed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for a 120 MWh battery energy storage project, utilizing their Aster 5000 system, with equipment ready for deployment.

In Austria, AlphaESS delivered a direct current battery system for a project with a capacity of 30 MW/60 MWh in Hörsching. This project integrates solar energy generation, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging, while providing grid services and backup power. Its grid service section, boasting a capacity of 40 MWh, commenced operations in September 2026.

In Germany, AlphaESS is supplying a direct current battery system for a 20 MWh project in Bavaria, designed for grid balancing and energy arbitrage, with operational launch planned for 2027.

Technology Advancements: Aster 5000

AlphaESS is proud to present its Aster 5000 system, a liquid-cooled battery energy storage solution housed in a 6-meter container, providing approximately 5 MWh of capacity per unit. Featuring intelligent temperature control, an advanced battery management system, and multi-layer safety protection, the Aster 5000 is designed for flexible deployment across various energy applications, including grid stabilization and renewable energy integration.

These notable projects and advanced technologies collectively illustrate AlphaESS's expanding capabilities in delivering scalable energy storage solutions to meet diverse market needs.
