Brian Grenko Takes the Helm as Technical Fellow at GroundWork Renewables

GroundWork Renewables, a leading solar intelligence company, recently welcomed Brian Grenko as their new Technical Fellow. With over 25 years of extensive experience in solar technology and engineering, Grenko brings a wealth of knowledge to the company's advisory practice.

A Veteran in Solar Technology

Brian Grenko’s career has been marked by significant achievements and leadership roles in the solar industry. Before joining GroundWork, he served as the President and CEO of VDE Americas, where he successfully led its technical advisory services. His trajectory also includes founding Amplify Energy, a firm specializing in PV engineering services, which was later acquired by DNV GL. Furthermore, he held the position of Vice President of Technology at Yingli Green Energy Americas, helping shape industry standards and practices.

At GroundWork, Grenko's primary responsibilities will focus on leading Independent Engineering, Owner’s Engineering, and Technical Due Diligence efforts. His role will involve providing senior technical reviews on some of the company's most complex projects. His expertise aims to assist solar owners and lenders in effectively utilizing GroundWork's lab and field data, enhancing their decision-making during financing, construction, and operational phases.

Elevating Solar Advisory Services

Grenko sees his mission at GroundWork as a continuation of a long-held vision—maximizing the efficiency of solar power generation facilities. “Squeezing every available kilowatt-hour out of operating solar power generation facilities has been a vision of mine for years,” Grenko stated. He believes that GroundWork is uniquely positioned to achieve this vision by combining field measurements and technical expertise. “I'm excited to build on these core competencies,” he added, expressing eagerness to unlock new insights and develop innovative solutions that create greater value for asset owners in the solar sector.

As part of his role at GroundWork, Grenko will also chair the Innovation Council, which is a collaborative forum consisting of senior experts from advisory, the lab, and systems engineering. This team focuses on integrating owner and lender perspectives into the company’s product development, ensuring that the solutions provided align with real-world needs.

GroundWork's Commitment to Excellence

Ann Will, CEO of GroundWork Renewables, commented on Grenko's addition to the team, emphasizing the shared vision of enhancing the speed and certainty in solar development. With the current landscape of solar projects evolving rapidly, Grenko's extensive experience is expected to significantly bridge the Expectation Gap—the disparity between modeled project performance and actual outcomes.

“Owners and lenders want independent advice backed by evidence,” Will said. She highlighted that Grenko’s capabilities, combined with GroundWork's comprehensive Lab and Field data, would empower them to meet these demands effectively.
