RadianX Secures $9 Million in Funding for Perovskite Solar Technology
RadianX, previously known as California Perovskite Technology, Inc., has successfully secured $9 million in a combination of venture and project financing aimed at expanding the production of its innovative perovskite solar modules. This funding round, co-led by SOSV and Twynam, features contributions from several notable investors including One Small Planet and Avila VC. Moreover, a significant partnership with Pacific Union Technology Precision Manufacturing (PUT) will enable the establishment of a dedicated production line, setting the stage for scaling commercial production.
The core of RadianX's technology revolves around perovskite solar modules that excel in applications like sensors, wearables, and Physical AI devices. Unlike conventional silicon panels, perovskite cells can generate power efficiently in low light and indoor environments, offering device makers advantages such as extended battery life and reduced reliance on traditional batteries. With a thickness of just 0.7mm, these modules can be customized for various sizes and voltage outputs, allowing them to be seamlessly integrated into existing products.
Josh Douglas, Co-founder and COO, remarks, "Most connected devices still depend on a battery that someone has to replace. Our job is to turn that light these devices already receive into power, to drive increased uptime and even reduce or eliminate the battery."
Addressing historical challenges in the adoption of perovskite technology, RadianX has achieved significant milestones. The company has developed some of the world's first perovskite modules certified by TÜV in critical categories of IEC TS 63163, suitable for consumer products facing high outdoor exposure. Their cells have demonstrated impressive efficiency ratings, with a world record of 22.33% for a module size of 1.2-by-0.6 meters, making them a competitive choice in the solar market.
One of the unique aspects of perovskite material is its low environmental impact. Vivian Qu, Co-founder and CEO, highlighted that perovskite does not rely on the silicon supply chain, does not require rare materials, and can be manufactured entirely in a single facility, enabling global scaling of production.
Tiger Yang, CEO of PUT, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "RadianX has demonstrated world-leading performance and stability metrics across all important categories, and has validated that performance in customer hands. This positions the technology as a key unlock for perovskite applications across all markets."
In addition to the funding and production advancements, RadianX has welcomed Gary Chen, former CEO of a solar production company, as their VP of Manufacturing and Product. This strategic addition is expected to bolster their manufacturing capabilities as they move forward.
RadianX is currently participating in the 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator, collaborating with NGK Corporation to integrate RadianX modules with NGK's EnerCera batteries in wireless devices.
With ambitions to revolutionize energy generation, RadianX aims to bring scalable and efficient solar solutions to the forefront of technology. Their pioneering approach to solar power through innovative perovskite modules positions them as a notable contender in the sustainable energy landscape.
