METLEN Energy & Metals PLC Reports Strong Growth in First Nine Months of 2026

METLEN Energy & Metals PLC Reports Impressive Growth

On November 5, 2026, METLEN Energy & Metals PLC, known for its leadership in the energy and metals sectors, announced its trading update for the first nine months concluding on September 30, 2026. The company, listed on the London Stock Exchange under the symbol MTLN, reported remarkable progress towards its strategic and operational priorities during this period.

Entering the last quarter of the year, METLEN highlighted that its revenue surged to €6.2 billion, demonstrating a record high for a nine-month period. This marks a notable increase of 21% compared to the €5.1 billion earned in the same timeframe in 2025, driven mainly by growth across multiple business segments and units. The company has maintained a focus on operational excellence and business development as part of its commitment to its vision for 2026.

The update revealed a temporary challenge faced by METLEN with a prolonged shutdown at its largest thermal power plant, which was out of service for 44 days. However, repairs have been completed successfully, and operations resumed fully on October 12, 2026.

Despite experiencing heightened market volatility and temporary interruptions in its combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) operations, METLEN has affirmed its EBITDA forecast for 2026, projecting between €1 billion and €1.15 billion. Furthermore, the medium-term EBITDA target remains set at €1.92 billion to €2.08 billion, reflecting the company's resilience.

Strategically, METLEN is advancing the development of METKA as an independent infrastructure platform under the newly established METKA Group. This includes the evaluation of a potential listing on the Athens Stock Exchange to enhance growth and financial autonomy.

The firm continues to actively mitigate risks within its infrastructure project business (MPP), having achieved the first ignition of the ENERGY RECOVERY PLANT (ERF) PROTOS in Cheshire. A combined cycle power plant (CCGT) of 560 MW in Grudziądz, Poland also saw significant advances, contributing positively to the existing project portfolio.

In line with its strategy of asset rotation, METLEN recently sold the Tamarico II project, which integrates solar energy with storage solutions, boasting a capacity of 165 MW / 725 MWh, to Copec in Chile. Furthermore, the commercialization of gallium has been boosted through a new long-term agreement with a significant Japanese chemical company, with additional sales agreements expected to be announced soon.

METLEN's energy storage portfolio is also expanding, highlighted by the inauguration of significant battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Greece and Italy. Furthermore, securing a five-year agreement with PETRONAS for six LNG shipments annually beginning 2027 has enhanced the security and diversification of METLEN’s gas supply.

Evangelos Mytilineos, the CEO of METLEN, stated that the company remains committed to executing its strategy consistently and resolutely, leveraging the strength of its diversified business model and the capabilities of its team. The focus on disciplined execution, operational excellence, and sustainable long-term value creation drives METLEN forward.
