Unlocking Workplace Productivity: Language Management Course for Summer 2025

Unlocking Workplace Productivity: Language Management Course for Summer 2025

The Education Communication Association, under the leadership of renowned language consultant Taiichi Kogure, is launching a special program aimed at tackling pressing productivity challenges in workplaces this summer. From June 20 to August 31, 2025, this course will address the critical issues of vague communication and labor shortages affecting many organizations. The summer period amplifies stress levels among employees, causing a concerning decline in communication quality, which exacerbates misunderstandings and reduces overall productivity.

The Deteriorating Situation

According to a survey conducted by Teikoku Databank in April 2025, 51.4% of enterprises reported facing a severe shortage of full-time employees, marking the highest level of shortage recorded for that month. Sectors such as information services, construction, and hospitality are particularly impacted. Coupled with the ongoing hot summer, these factors exert immense pressure on employees, leading to ambiguous instructions from superiors, such as, “Just do it like before” or “Please summarize this,” increasing stress and errors, thus significantly reducing productivity across the board.

This chronic misalignment between what is conveyed and what is understood has become a hallmark of modern workplaces, resulting in unseen productivity losses and hidden costs. Especially during July, when the workload peaks alongside employee shortages, clarity in communication becomes paramount. The summer heat adds to the fatigue, making it even more difficult for teams to engage in meaningful dialogues, which are crucial during evaluations, goal-setting, and performance discussions. Miscommunications can thus directly lead to dissatisfaction and a breakdown of trust within teams. This reinforces a cycle that erodes productivity in Japanese companies during a critical period.

Course Goals

To combat these issues, the Language Management Course is designed to provide attendees with practical tools for clarifying and solidifying communication in the workplace. By honing language skills, participants will learn how to:
  • - Transform vague instructions into concise directives, thereby eradicating misunderstandings.
  • - Counteract the tendency to assume understanding by implementing effective confirmation techniques.
  • - Eliminate ambiguity in reporting processes to enhance the accuracy of information sharing.
  • - Foster a work culture prioritizing psychological safety, where all team members feel safe to express uncertainties.
  • - Significantly reduce backtracking on tasks by improving the quality of communication.

This course serves not just as an educational experience but as a crucial component in enhancing team performance, particularly in light of the ongoing labor shortages. By establishing clear communication protocols within teams, organizations can counteract potential declines in productivity and foster a thriving, efficient work environment.
