Exciting Family Green Atelier Event at Azabudai Hills for Children This Golden Week

Discover the Wonders of Nature at Family Green Atelier

This Golden Week, the Family Green Atelier will be held at the scenic Azabudai Hills from May 2nd to 6th, 2026, offering a fantastic opportunity for children and families to engage in educational play. Hosted by Machino Kenkyusho Co., Ltd. in collaboration with Mori Building Co., Ltd., this event promises vibrant activities to inspire creativity in children through nature.

Created as a monthly program that began in April 2025, Family Green Atelier provides a space for children to explore the themes of "Japan's Calendar and Seasonal Nature" in a hands-on manner. Over the past events, approximately 2,000 participants have enjoyed these enriching experiences, emphasizing the development of a child's senses and creativity through play.

This Golden Week event marks a special occasion with its theme of "Rikka," signaling the start of summer according to the Japanese calendar. Attendees will enjoy nine diverse programs specially designed to connect children with nature, encouraging them to express themselves creatively.

One of the highlights will be the Colorful Cloth Maze, which symbolizes the event. Children will be able to run and play within this labyrinth made of delicate, colorful fabric that dances in the breeze, experiencing the magical interplay between color and nature. This interactive maze offers a tactile experience to connect with the environment around them.

In a unique addition, the Cloud Atelier invites children to sit on soft, cloud-like balloons under the monumental structure called The Cloud, allowing them the chance to observe and express the shapes of the sky and clouds. This design draws inspiration from the swirling forms of fluffy clouds in the air, providing interactive learning through observation and imagination.

Other engaging activities include the Sun and Shadows Theater, where participants can explore the effects of sunlight through various materials to create shadows and forms, showcasing the wonders of light. The Green Walk program, led by experts, will take children through the lush greenery of Azabudai Hills, facilitating a connection with the local flora and fauna.

In collaboration with local businesses, the event features the Words and Rhythm Atelier, where children can explore sounds and rhythms inspired by illustrations from picture books, set to include live readings and music workshops throughout the event. There’s also an exciting Taste Journey Atelier, where children can observe fruits and vegetables under a microscope, unraveling the mysteries of their textures.

Furthermore, the Scent Atelier provides an opportunity to explore the intricacies of aromas from the orchard's natural materials, allowing for creative expression and sensorial dialogue through scents.

With inclusive programs like the Color Atelier, where children can create their own drawings using natural materials, and a community fabric weaving project centralizing on collective creation, this event emphasizes the engagement of children with their surroundings, fostering a sense of wonder and community connection.

As this wonderful event unfolds, it aims to encourage imaginations as children immerse themselves in nature, fostering creativity and inspiring interactions that enrich both their lives and that of the community.
