onX and Toyota Collaborate to Revitalize Trails Across America Spring 2025

onX and Toyota Launch Nationwide Trail Revival Project

In a groundbreaking collaboration, onX, a leader in digital navigation technology, has joined forces with Toyota to kick off the inaugural Trail Revival Project. This initiative, aimed at preserving access to public trails, is set to begin in May 2025 and focus on restoring key outdoor areas across the United States. With mounting concerns around the accessibility and upkeep of these trails, the project seeks to engage local communities and outdoor enthusiasts to ensure that beloved natural spaces remain open and safe for all.

The Trail Revival Project will host a series of community-driven events in five significant states: California, Colorado, Montana, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. These events are designed to tackle the issues that lead to trail degradation including overuse, fallen trees, debris, and inadequate management resources. On May 3, the initial event will take place at Mendocino National Forest, California, with subsequent events planned throughout the summer.

Frances Kershaw, Brand Director at onX, emphasized the urgency of this initiative. "At a time when access to public lands is feeling increasingly uncertain, we're inviting the outdoor community to help protect the places they love. This initiative is about more than just trail maintenance—it's about coming together to safeguard our shared landscapes for the future."

The project will leverage the support of local organizations, off-road clubs, and land management agencies. Volunteers will have the unique opportunity to engage directly with their natural surroundings, contributing physically to clearing trails, removing debris, and rebuilding crucial access routes. Toyota's involvement extends beyond mere sponsorship; the company will actively provide essential gear, equipment, and volunteers to facilitate these efforts. Notably, Toyota Trucks will play a pivotal role in hauling necessary materials and trash from the sites of restoration.

"Whether you're out hiking, biking or overlanding, access is critical," commented Mike Tripp, Group Vice President of Toyota Marketing. He added that both brands are in a prime position to mobilize outdoor enthusiasts to protect the places that bring them joy and adventure.

In addition to these planned events, onX and Toyota are encouraging off-road clubs to consider hosting their own local Trail Revival events. Selected groups will receive substantial support, including $5,000 in funding, equipment donations such as chainsaws, trail tools, and expert mentorship from Toyota and onX's Access and Stewardship Program.
