Why We Hold Sports Day
1. Addressing Sedentary Lifestyles
According to a recent national survey by the Japan Sports Agency,
52.5% of adults aged
20 and older engage in sports at least once a week, with those in their
20s to 50s showing even lower participation rates.
At AquaStar,
97% of our workforce is comprised of employees in their
20s to 40s, primarily seated at computers. The Sports Day initiative commenced in
2024 to encourage healthier lifestyles and enhance mental well-being amidst our daily routines.
2. Promoting Internal Communication
Teams are formed across departments facilitating cooperation and support. The atmosphere encourages spontaneous interactions between employees who may not usually engage with each other, resulting in shared smiles and stronger workplace connections each year.
3. Organizational Efforts Through the Cheerful Team
Cheerful is a cross-departmental project team dedicated to enhancing workplace culture and communication. The team operates on the motto: "We make our work environment fun ourselves!" Currently, it comprises
12 members from various departments, fostering an inclusive environment for both genders (including three males).
Team Quote
The leader of Cheerful, Fumi Honda, expressed, "Moving physically generates natural communication. Despite our busy schedules, Sports Day offers a chance for everyone to connect joyfully while experiencing the thrill of teamwork."
AquaStar's Workplace Culture
AquaStar nurtures a culture of inter-departmental collaboration and project development. Beyond the Sports Day, initiatives like
ShareNova, an internal study group, and the
MAG Project, which focuses on promoting a better work environment, highlight our employees' proactive engagement that yields significant results.
