Experience Traditional Japanese Craft at Kitasenju Marui's New Pop-Up Shop

Discover a New Pop-Up Shop at Kitasenju Marui

Kitasenju Marui, operated by Marui Co., Ltd., is excited to announce its first-ever pop-up shop dedicated to the artistic heritage of Japanese craftsmanship. The pop-up shop, located on the second floor's Calendarium, showcases a delightful collaboration titled INDEN・YA×JIZAING, which revitalizes the traditional craft of Inden with fresh artistic elements.

What is Inden?

Inden, a time-honored craft that dates back over 400 years to the Edo period, involves meticulously applying lacquer onto deer leather by skilled artisans. Each piece reflects the unique beauty of Inden, which is not only culturally significant but also showcases exquisite craftsmanship. The INDEN・YA×JIZAING initiative, managed by JIZAING Co., Ltd., aims to present the essence of Inden while integrating modern aesthetics. The collection includes a vibrant range of products featuring both traditional and original limited patterns.

Seasonal Exclusives

In line with the launch of the pop-up shop, Kitasenju Marui is offering seasonal-themed products, particularly featuring a sakura (cherry blossom) pattern. Customers are encouraged to explore the elegance of lacquer art alongside the luxurious texture of deer leather, often referred to as "the silk of leather."
