Kanazawa University Implements CHIMER Alumni Platform
Kanazawa University has officially decided to implement a new alumni platform called CHIMER, developed and operated by Syoya Inc. This initiative aims to strengthen the connections among alumni, current students, and faculty members. The platform will commence operations in April 2025 and is part of the university's comprehensive effort to foster relationships within the Kanazawa community.
The Purpose of the Project
The primary goal of Kanazawa University is to contribute to society through a commitment to 'Future Knowledge,' as outlined in its visionary objectives. To achieve this, the university seeks to consolidate information related to its alumni, thereby enhancing the productivity of its alumni association and various subgroup associations. CHIMER serves as a modern network system allowing seamless communication between alumni, current students, and faculty members—encouraging mutual interactions that strengthen ties and foster collaboration.
CHIMER aims to enhance the relationship between alumni and the university by expanding the Kanazawa University community both locally and internationally. The platform is set to include features that facilitate donations from alumni to the university, providing a more accessible way for them to support student and research initiatives, thereby empowering the institution's future.
Comments from Kanazawa University President
President Takashi Wada emphasized the university's commitment to education-focused research, particularly as an institution located in areas affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake in 2024. He stated that alumni are a critical part of the 'All Kanazawa University' identity, and this platform marks a significant step toward strengthening alumni connections.
Wada noted, "The introduction of the alumni platform breaks geographical and temporal constraints, allowing more vibrant exchanges among alumni, current students, and faculty. Our goal is to stimulate a diverse network that transcends fields, generations, and regions. We aim to create a supportive environment for career advice and mentorship—enhancing opportunities for both alumni and current students."
Collaboration Framework for the Project
The Kanazawa University Alumni Platform will operate through a partnership between Kanazawa University and Syoya Inc., forming a robust support system for alumni and students. Even before the platform goes live, workshops have been hosted for community managers and faculty to discuss operational aspects and facilitate effective communication among stakeholders.
Understanding CHIMER
CHIMER is an all-in-one platform designed to invigorate alumni networks in higher education institutions like universities and vocational schools. It not only allows for efficient membership management and information dissemination but also supports multiple community management within a single organization. Thus, it facilitates alumni interaction and engagement.
By implementing CHIMER, institutions can visualize and revitalize dormant alumni networks, ultimately leading to benefits such as increased donations, enhanced institutional branding, and a transition to a more paperless operation, ensuring sustainability and distinguishing features for the organization.
