Kate Savelli brings over two decades of experience in the restaurant sector, having previously contributed to notable brands such as Einstein Bros. Bagels, Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen, and Darden Restaurants. In her new role, Savelli will spearhead initiatives revolving around brand development, consumer engagement, menu innovation, and partnership strategies. Her track record of fostering growth and innovation is expected to play a crucial role in propelling Smashburger’s momentum on a national scale.

Jim Sullivan, the CEO of Smashburger, expressed enthusiasm about Savelli's appointment, citing her dynamic marketing acumen and prowess for storytelling as key attributes that will enrich the company’s operations. Theresa Vitale has a robust background, having worked with high-profile companies like Inspire Brands and Starbucks. She aims to enhance growth through non-traditional franchise avenues—an increasingly important strategy in a competitive market, tapping into sectors such as travel and education. Jack Reed, who has experience with Bar Louie and Steak 'n' Shake, will oversee operational management and growth strategies for Smashburger in the Western United States.

Under the fresh leadership, Smashburger is planning for up to 12 new openings in 2026, focusing on disciplined and strategic growth. The company has firmly set its sights on expanding consumer connections while deepening the operational frameworks that allow each restaurant to deliver quality service and products consistently. Savelli emphasizes that while Smashburger is famous for its high-quality burgers, there’s a broader narrative to explore, one that she is eager to communicate.
