YOMIKO's Commitment to Employee Care Support
YOMIKO, officially known as 株式会社読売広告社, is taking significant steps towards supporting its employees in managing caregiving responsibilities. Starting in November 2025, the company will introduce two new care support systems aimed at fostering a supportive environment for all employees, based on insights gathered from an awareness survey on caregiving.
The Motivating Survey Findings
In a recent company-wide survey, an alarming
95% of respondents expressed concerns about caregiving responsibilities, while
79% acknowledged the likelihood of requiring caregiving assistance within the next five years. These findings highlight the urgent need for supportive measures that can help employees balance their work and caregiving duties. YOMIKO aims to address these concerns effectively through the rollout of the following initiatives:
1. Social Insurance Premium Coverage During Care Leave
To alleviate financial stress during caregiving leave, YOMIKO will cover the social insurance premiums that employees would typically pay during their leave period. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the burden on employees taking time off to care for relatives, ensuring they can focus on their caregiving duties without worrying about financial constraints.
2. Reinstatement Bonus for Care Leave Employees
A reinstatement bonus will be established for employees returning from caregiving leave, similar to the existing bonuses given to those returning from parental leave. This financial incentive will be disbursed after their return to encourage and empower employees to take the necessary time off without fear of losing financial stability.
The YOMIKO SUSTAINABLE DAYS Seminar
To ensure that all employees are well-informed about these new initiatives, YOMIKO has scheduled an all-hands seminar titled
“YOMIKO SUSTAINABLE DAYS” for late November. The seminar will feature invited experts discussing the theme of “Designing Workplaces that Support the Balance of Work and Caregiving.” During this event, the details of the caregiving initiatives will be presented, alongside personal anecdotes shared by employees who have faced caregiving challenges themselves.
Participation in this seminar is mandatory for management staff overseeing employees over the age of 50, while all employees seeking to learn more about caregiving are encouraged to attend, promoting a culture of understanding across various levels of the organization.
Existing Care Support Systems
YOMIKO already has several systems in place to promote caregiving balance, including:
- - Care Leave Allocation: Employees are entitled to take up to 5 days of paid leave per year for one dependent in need of care, and 10 days for two or more dependents.
- - Flexible Work Arrangements for Caregiving: Options for reduced working hours, limitations on overtime and late-night shifts, ensuring that caregivers can better manage their time and duties at home.
- - Caregiving Guidelines Handbook: A comprehensive guide detailing the caregiving policies in place, aiding employees in navigating through the process efficiently should they find themselves in caregiving situations.
YOMIKO’s Future Initiatives
Moving forward, YOMIKO is committed to fostering an environment that represents its values of
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), and aligns with its vision of
“GAME CHANGE.” The goal is to create a workspace where every employee can thrive, balancing their professional responsibilities with caregiving challenges.
YOMIKO continues to pursue sustainable growth opportunities, making it a formidable partner in facilitating both business and societal progress. By reinforcing support for employees juggling work and caregiving, YOMIKO is setting a precedent for modern corporate responsibility.
