Significant Changes to Japan's Home Care Workforce with New Visa Regulations

Specific Skills (Caregiving) visa. This legislative change represents a historic step forward for the caregiving profession and brings with it immense potential. Previously, foreign workers were prohibited from engaging in home care roles due to restrictive regulations. With the introduction of this new labor pool, the caregiving sector can expect an influx of much-needed support.

However, to fully leverage this change, there is considerable preparation needed in areas such as understanding the acceptance system, improving working environments, and providing communication support. To clear up misconceptions and apprehensions regarding employment of foreign workers, a joint effort between the government, industry professionals, and receptive support organizations will be crucial to ensure proper implementation of these new regulations.

To facilitate this transition, an online seminar will be held featuring Mr. Takashi Honma from the MHLW, who oversees the acceptance and support initiatives for foreign caregivers. The seminar will cover key topics including the background and motives behind the regulatory change, important specifics concerning the modifications, and the structural preparations needed in caregiving facilities. Moreover, it will offer insights on future prospects, all presented from a practical standpoint relevant for care facility operators.

By gaining knowledge on the regulation, stakeholders in the home care industry can take a crucial first step toward confidently integrating foreign caregivers into their operations. This seminar is crafted to provide a valuable experience for all home care service providers across the nation.
