Explore Food and Nature: Summer Research Projects with Pal System
As summer rolls in, Pal System, headquartered in Shinjuku City, Tokyo, has rolled out a plethora of enjoyable content to assist children in their summer vacation research projects. With engaging activities that include experiments using familiar ingredients, the observation of cicadas, hands-on logistics experiences, and renewable energy projects, Pal System aims to offer fun educational opportunities for kids and parents alike.
Experiments with Familiar Ingredients
Pal System’s recipe site, "Daidokolog", has launched an initiative called "Daidokolog Laboratory: Summer Research for Kids", guiding families from picking research themes to compiling reports. Here, kids can learn to create snacks like ice cream and cottage cheese using easily accessible ingredients and understand the science behind why materials solidify or expand. This initiative promotes not only culinary creativity but also scientific inquiry, with tips on compiling reports that can apply to various research themes and projects.

Get Behind the Scenes of Delivery: Work Experience
Pal System also offers a hands-on logistics and IT work experience program aimed at elementary school students and their parents. Located in Inagi City, Tokyo, this program allows participants to explore the inner workings of home delivery by using real sorting machines and experiencing what it takes for products to reach their doorstep. The next sessions are scheduled for August 25th and 28th, with registration deadlines on August 18th and 21st respectively.

Observing Cicada Sounds Together
Pal System encourages kids to tune into nature by documenting cicada sounds. An online resource provides audio clips and images of six different cicada species, encouraging young researchers to notice the variations in sounds according to their location and time. Once they collect their data, students can submit their findings through an online worksheet provided by the Ministry of the Environment. This initiative not only promotes biodiversity awareness but also fosters teamwork among students.
