MAHA Center Launches National Chiropractic Hub to Promote Drug-Free Healthcare and Preventative Practices

MAHA Center Launches National Chiropractic Hub

In a significant move towards a healthier society, MAHA Center Inc. and MAHA Action Inc. have launched the MAHA Chiropractic Hub, a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing drug-free and prevention-first healthcare options in the United States. This collaborative effort unites various facets of the chiropractic profession—including national associations, state organizations, practitioners, educators, researchers, and patient advocates—under a singular mission: to improve federal policies, broaden patient access, and cultivate public support for chiropractic care.

The drive behind this initiative is clear: to support vulnerable groups, including children, military personnel, veterans, seniors, and families seeking effective non-drug and non-surgical healthcare solutions. As Tony Lyons, President of MAHA Center, aptly states, “The chiropractic profession embodies the kind of whole-person, drug-free, prevention-oriented care that is essential for fostering a healthier America.”

Foundation of the Chiropractic Hub

The Chiropractic Hub was born from discussions held among chiropractic leaders in Washington D.C., where they identified the need for a cohesive national approach to expand access, bolster federal recognition of chiropractic professionals, push for reforms in Medicare, and integrate chiropractic care into military and broader public health systems. The Hub operates on four key pillars:

1. Education and Media: An extensive public relations campaign focusing on building awareness and support among the public and policymakers regarding chiropractic as a valid, accessible, and prevention-focused healthcare option.
2. Medicare and Federal Recognition: Efforts to advance the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act, aiming to enhance Medicare and insurance accessibility for chiropractic services.
3. Military Integration: Collaboration with the Defense Health Agency to embed chiropractic practices within military healthcare systems, providing active-duty personnel with alternatives to surgical interventions for musculoskeletal injuries.
4. Department of Veterans Affairs: Engaging with the VA to promote a nationwide directive enhancing chiropractic access for veterans and their families, thereby reducing wait times and easing restrictions on community care programs.

The Role of Chiropractic in Healthcare

The evidence supporting the integration of chiropractic care into the American healthcare system is substantial. At its core, chiropractic focuses on the holistic management of health. By addressing subluxations or misalignments in the spine, chiropractic care supports the body’s inherent ability to heal. Importantly, studies indicate that individuals who seek chiropractic care for back pain have a significantly lower likelihood of resorting to opioid prescriptions, suggesting that chiropractic could play a vital role in mitigating the opioid crisis.

Furthermore, statistics indicate that initial care through a chiropractor aligns with a reduction in surgical rates. Specifically, in workers' compensation cases, the likelihood of surgery is a mere 1.5% when treatments start with a chiropractor, in contrast to 42.7% when initiated with a surgeon.

Despite the growing body of evidence, federal investments in chiropractic remain disproportionately low compared to other healthcare disciplines. Barriers to access via Medicare and military health systems still persist, posing challenges for patients seeking chiropractic services.

The launch of the MAHA Chiropractic Hub signifies a crucial step forward in advocating for drug-free healthcare options, aiming to alter the perception of chiropractic from an alternative practice to a fundamental aspect of a sustainable healthcare system in America. The initiative invites everyone interested in supporting these efforts to learn more and get involved by visiting mahacenter.org/chiropractic-hub. In addition, a discussion centered on the Hub will occur during the MAHA Media Hub event, scheduled for June 3rd at 4:00 PM ET. Registration details can be found at mahaaction.org/media-hub.

The MAHA Chiropractic Hub represents a collaborative effort to not only evolve the public perspective on chiropractic care but also to assure every American has access to a healthcare system that prioritizes wellness and prevention. As this initiative moves forward, it hopes to cultivate a healthier future grounded firmly on the principles of chiropractic care.
