Brown Toy Box Launches First-Ever STEAM Bowl to Inspire Young Minds During Super Bowl Week

Brown Toy Box Launches Inaugural STEAM Bowl

On February 5, 2025, Brown Toy Box, a pioneer in culturally relevant STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiatives, will launch its first-ever STEAM Bowl in New Orleans. This exciting event, hosted at the Pierre A. Capdau STEAM School, aims to intertwine the thrill of football with the wonders of STEAM, promoting an enriching learning experience for children and families alike.

A Unique Collaboration

This significant event marks the third collaboration between Brown Toy Box and Microsoft during the Big Game weekend, aiming to make STEAM accessible, especially for communities that often miss out on such opportunities. The STEAM Bowl will feature over 20 engaging STEAM activities, including a demonstration of the Microsoft MakeCode game, corresponding with the NFLPA STEAM kits developed by Brown Toy Box. As an official NFLPA licensee, Brown Toy Box illustrates the links between STEAM fields and sports, showcasing various career paths in technology, data analysis, and engineering.

Terri-Nichelle Bradley, CEO and Founder of Brown Toy Box, emphasizes the company's dedication to inclusivity in STEAM. She states, "At Brown Toy Box, we're committed to making STEAM accessible and inclusive... Through the STEAM Bowl, we're inspiring children to envision themselves in STEAM roles while fostering a sense of belonging."

Cultural Celebration

The event will not only focus on educational aspects but also celebrate and cultivate curiosity about Black culture, emphasizing how every child can enjoy STEAM activities. With a mission to cultivate creativity, confidence, and curiosity, Brown Toy Box aims to inspire the next generation of thinkers and innovators. Their motto—“Discover it, dream it, do it!”—captures their goal of providing enriching experiences through play-based learning.

In addition to STEAM activities, the event will host a Parent Zone Tailgate, courtesy of Aetna Better Health of Louisiana. This area will include health screenings, tailgate-style food, and family-friendly games to ensure every participant feels involved in the excitement of the Big Game.

Words from Partners

Darrell Booker, Microsoft's Tech Community Acceleration Manager, remarked, "STEAM education expands opportunities for the next generation. The STEAM Bowl provides a fantastic platform for connecting children with vital skills and inspiration necessary for thriving in technological sectors and beyond."

Aetna Better Health of Louisiana’s Division President, Sonya Nelson, reiterated the potential for impact, stating: "We're proud to be involved with this powerful event and committed to initiatives that boost health and education within local families."

The Parent Zone Tailgate will aim to facilitate health screenings and the promotion of healthy living among the attendees, combining the themes of health, enjoyment, and STEAM learning to present a holistic view of education and well-being.

Special Guest

To make the event even more thrilling, a surprise appearance by New Orleans Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler is planned, who will take pictures with students and educators, adding to the festive atmosphere of the day.

Inspired Mission

The STEAM Bowl stands out as a prime example of Brown Toy Box’s commitment to creating culturally affirming STEAM experiences. The organization's focus is to inspire young minds to dream big and help them realize their potential—both in sports and in STEAM careers.
